I hate it when people say you’re pretty for a black girl or when people think you’re mixed race because you don’t fit the criteria of a full black women. Just say we’re beautiful. Stop with the backhanded compliments! 😡

Yes! Everyone thinks I'm mixed it's so frustrating. Or when I wear weave they say ignorant things like "That looks like it could be your real hair because your light skin "😠 I have witnessed my darker skin sisters told such horrible things about themselves it pisses me off. And also we as black people are the most diverse we come in so many different beautiful shades it's really a blessing but some want of to feel like it's a curse.

And I also hear this from women. I have tried to explain that ‘for’ does not make it a compliment and I do not accept it as one, in fact it’s completely disrespectful and I am not an exception to any made up ridiculous rule. Wow. This hits home. And why is strong the only adjective used to describe black women? Black women can be and are soft, feminine, flirty, dainty, affectionate, vibrant, lovable and so many words other than strong. Dating is hard when you're actively seeking and those around you have met someone. It's hard when you're the last of your childhood, high school and college friends (of all ethnicities) who is single. You open yourself up only to be told you're undesirable and not worthy of love. That's awful.

Black women have had to live with the stereotype of being loud and aggressive for so long, they are now against labeling themselves as "strong", whilst white feminist can proudly use this term without having to be afraid of being called "masculine" or "aggressive".

I've heard from people that I should say I'm African-American instead of African because it's more attractive. Or that I'm lucky that I'm not dark skined - don't try to compliment me while insulting other people. But for me the hardest part is not knowing if the other person is really interested or if they're just curious about beeing with a black person like some kind of fetish.

Also why are you comparing yourselves to the white woman dating expirence? If your beautiful black queens, then you shouldn't care, right? And all of these women dont seem like they are in the best shape. This is the type of woman that does the most complaining behind being black, but fat bodies, and fat faces are the real hindrance for them. If your face is attractive, and your body is nice, you should have Zero problem getting a date. The darkskinned chic with braids gets dates. She just doesn't get the guys she wants.

These women have not let any of their experiences keep them from happiness (as evident by the fact that one is currently married). Why is it always "for a black girl?" You may not have a problem getting any man, but don't sit here and act like every black chick has it easy too. There are many of us who are attractive, but attractiveness doesn't matter when we're stereotyped horribly. Other women do not have this problem. This is the most desperate representation of black women I have seen in a long time. Like geez. Perpetuating victimhood much? Was the point of this to guilt men into dating more black women? In that case, the women didn't even discuss why they are dateable or what makes them attractive partners? To all the black women out there, dont feel sorry for yourself, love yourself unconditionally, clean up your energy, heal your anxiety attachments, invest in personal development, find the fashion style that resonates with you best, develop your personality and ability to emapthize, learn about men (how they think and operate), and find HAPPINESS with your life and who you are , and you will have no problem getting and keeping ANY man you want. This advice goes for any woman of any color btw. I know its easier said than done, but trust me, it WORKS.

I hear and understand your point, but they are being open about insecurities a lot of us have had to deal with and have ignored out of fear of not being acknowledged. As a black woman I feel we need to commend them for talking about it and not criticize them calling it “perpetuating victimhood”. I feel you sound like someone who clearly experienced this or if you have, you were able to move past it. Not everyone deals with such issues the same way so the last thing they need is someone saying they are responsible for how other people perceive their physical appearances because they are not.

black women in my experience (I'm black btw) are generally more approachable even though they initially give off the vibe that they aren't. they are fun to hang out with, really good sense of humor, if you ever watch prank videos on youtube black women seem like they are able to laugh at themselves and laugh at the prank in the end. def have a unwarranted bad reputation.

Honestly, the most common prank pulled on black women involve pulling her wig which just aren’t funny anymore. They were funny during 2016 back then and we all laughed and had fun. Now it’s just awkward and they have to laugh it off to not come off as offended and aggressive. When you repeat a joke long enough, it stops being funny. What is so funny about that prank? That they don’t have hair? Let’s stop with those humiliating pranks.

since the 1970's there has been a Hollywood/media campaign to portray blck one way wich is 90% negatively. unfortunately people who don't have interactions with blacks because of their country or where they live, rely on these media portrayals to judge us. I think it's so odd that black women are portrayed as loud and aggressive....from what I have seen in my travels around the world, African women and Black women of African heritage are THE MOST humble and sometimes passive women out there. Also to note, African women from the continent are way more submissive than Asian women (I lived in Japan)….yet MEDIA never portrays this. I have been getting my hair braided by different African women for years and when their husband, sons or father comes into the house he is treated like a KING. Also back in the day in the South at least, I remember my great grandma from Georgia being the EXACT same way.

Is she polite, would she be a good mother, will she be faithful, does she have a good sense of humor?. Not some list of accomplishments that shows you don't have time to date or have a family. Can we start promoting a positive narrative of dating while black? I'm so over the media portraying black women's dating life as if it's nonexistent or challenging. Maybe if we change the narrative, we won't perpetuate these negative stereotypes. Edit: I want to be very clear. I know this is a reality for a lot of black women. I’m not saying their experiences aren’t valid. What I am saying is that there isn’t enough media representation of black women in loving relationships to counter this narrative. We’re fed so many images of the “unloved black woman”. I believe that can have an adverse effect on black women’s self-esteem and self-image. And I also understand that this video may not be the best place to voice my concern as it appears that I’m invalidating their experience. That definitely isn’t my purpose for commenting.

I actually agree with you in part. You think you're not getting dates because you're black, perhaps it's just because you're not attractive.

Well said as a Blackman these bitches be crazy. Just look at the single mothers, study shows 80% of black woman have kids to the same 20% of man mostly crim's and playboys in there community they all flock to the same guy hoping to become apart of his harem and everyone else has to pay (taxes) for there choices to support them. Let em suffer they don't deserve a men.

Its double speak for "combative and self-absorbed" just replace those words with the words they say when they say it and you will get it. They don't want to admit that the culture has indoctrinated them to be combative, antagonistic, and narcissistic to the point they are abrasive and repellent to the men they want to approach them.

@Zazzy we Somalis are iron heads, it really doesn't effect us that much what other people say. We don't see Europeans as a righteous to dictate us, I really don't care what a German, English, French or Italian standards of beauty is. We have our own beauty standards that goes centuries back,

@@ButternutBanyana that's great thing to here, men and women from the same country needs each other, so they have to support each other. If we abandon our women other men would take advantage of them and will ruin their lives. I don't get what attracts AAs men to white and latino women that much, that they left their own women, who were for them there in their hardest times.

@@marknic5000 Exactly. Somali men are warriors and protect their culture. I truly admire that. You guard your women, thats why Somali women are exclusive. Its a big deal if a man gets a Somali woman because they are very very hard to get. Thats what happens when you guard your culture and women, they become a hot commodity.

I am a white middle class woman who has grown up in a predominately white area, and i think ALL black women are EXTREMELY GORGEOUS!! This video was beautifully made, and absolutely opened my eyes to just a fraction of what some women have to go through. You women are power houses, incredibly smart, gorgeous and kind. 💪 your strength is inspiring and i pray for the day where there is a generation of strong powerful black women and all women who no longer have to live in a world of stereotypes and racism! 💖
