I hate break-up scenes which is why I prefer the dramas with no break-up scenes. We have so much pain and heart ache in life. Why does these dramas have to bring pain too. Makes no sense to me. Although, this break-up scene coupled with her disease was different but still did not like it. I don't like to see people in pain.

because some people like pan lol. I mean, only having representation of the happy times would be boring and like a utopia. plus you know, from a cinematic POV, things are more relatable and emotion inducing with negative emotions rather than positive. thats just how humans generally work nowadays. so maybe thats why so much media has angst before the happy ending.
