The Central Station Spartans

When Austin Giesey, ’14, was tapped to be a project manager for the 647,000-square-foot Michigan Central Station restoration project, he knew it would be an important job. Beyond the titanic amount of preservation and reconstruction, this was personal. Giesey's family made Detroit their home after his grandmother's emotional arrival through the station in 1942. Now, he had the opportunity to restore the grandeur, not just to the iconic building, but to the city of Detroit and its people. Of course, Giesey didn’t do it alone. Meet Austin and the Spartan cohort that helped bring Michigan Central Station back to glory.
