I feel like one of the few black people who doesn’t care about “black” hairstyles on non blacks. Like I get that whole “they’re getting celebrated or not hated for it when we are” thing. But a lot of the time I feel like that’s blaming an individual who probably doesn’t actively contribute to that societal view on it. Like wouldnt more people wearing and spreading these hairstyles contribute to it being seen less as an “underclass” thing? Idk always left a weird taste in my mouth to be bothered about it not that I don’t get it.

I will never get how someone can get pressed over someone else having dreads. Im not discounting there is culture behind it but you controlling how someone styles their hair because you think they 1. arent from the culture and 2. dont understand the culture is wild. Someone doesn't get dressed and accidentally end up with traditional Chinese garb on, dreads on the other hand is just a means of containing your hair and Can easily be done with no idea of a culture doing the same.
