THE CATS OF ISTANBUL | A Video Hommage
Cute Street cats in Istanbul 🇹🇷 Funniest Stray Cat Video
During my stay in Istanbul, I could not help but notice the many cute street cats in Istanbul roaming the streets everywhere. No wonder, Istanbul is also known as the capital of cats, some even call it "Catstanbul". I decided to do a video collage of the many feral cats and cute street cats I came across in one funny street cat video that captures the many feral cats looking for food, playing, relaxing, hunting, or enjoying the menu of the day.
The cats of Istanbul are really everywhere. The New York Times estimates that in Istanbul alone, a megacity of 15 million people, there are thought to be 125,000 feral cats roaming free. Other estimates range from a hundred thousand to over a million stray cats. It was easy to find street cats in Turkey for my funny street cat video. I normally don't record many animal videos but I had fun with cats and the street cats in Istanbul. Towards the second part of the video you will see street cats at night, roaming the street in search of food.
No matter where you go in the city, you will see cats looking for food or eating raw meat, fish and and other delicacies. In most cases, they don't have to look far. Istanbul's streets are lined with food and water bowls and small cat houses placed by residents in a communal effort to look after the street cats. Many Turkish citizens view street animals as communally-owned pets, rather than traditional strays. And while the cats are not adopted formally, they are taken care of by no one and everyone, a truly giant community network of cat caring. A recent blanket no-kill, no capture policy will ensure that cats will continue to be around in the future too.

I miss Istanbul so much specially for the cats,I don’t think there are many places around the world were you can join a meal with a cat peacefully in a nice sunny terrace in the middle of a city❣️

Thanks for showing us the cats of Istanbul - so heartwarming and uplifting. I loved seeing the cats roaming around the city and also so comfortable lounging on benches etc - they really are right at home. I highly recommend "Kedi" too - a fantastic documentary, and not just for cat lovers, although I am cat lover myself and have 2 adopted strays. Take care and safe travels for 2022.

Awee so cute! I ❤️ cats sooooo much! Cats are like God's perfect animal creation, and they are so smart! I live in an RV in America and I have a cat. Cat's are pretty common here too

Wonderful start to the year. My sister takes care of feral cats..feeds and shelters them. The notch in the ear means they have been captured and fixed. Good to see so many are fixed but there is still a lot not taken care of in Turkey. Happy 2022 and stay safe,

45 yıldır İstanbul da yaşıyorum açlıktan ölen kedi hiç görmedim bazen kavga edip birbirlerini yaralıyorlar yada araba kazasından dolayı ölen kediler de oluyor ama hiç açlıktan ölen kedi görmedim
