In this chapter, at Penn Station, Holden want to call someone but can’t think of anyone who would be available. His brother D. B. is in Hollywood, his sister is too young and probably asleep; he won’t call Jane, and another girl, sally Hayes’ mother hates him. So, Holden takes a cab to the Edmont Hotel. He tries to talk to the driver, asking him where the ducks in the lake go in winter, but the driver isn’t having it. His room at the hotel looks at the windows of other residents, and he is disgusted to find people engaging in lewd acts like spitting water into each other’s mouths. This however arouses Holden, and he decided to call a promiscuous girl recommended o him by a boy he met at a party. He tries to make a date with her but she refuses, claiming that she needs her beauty sleep. She offers instead to meet the next day, but Holden doesn’t want to wait that long, so he hangs up.

It is very challenging at times. Especially if it’s a word I haven’t heard pronounced before. I tend to do research before recording though. Still hard haha
