EMC105-4 - Sound Design
Production Summary:
A team of students consisting of Erwin Pajunar, Adrian Lopez, and Czeann
Ocampo created the idea for the project. The sound effects and foley were
created utilizing everyday objects found in their house. They were recorded
independently as each member was assigned to a different aspect of the
project. Czeann Ocampo and Erwin Pajunar did the voice acting and script
writing, while Adrian Lopez used his song composing skill to create an original arrangement for the background music, adding energy and life to the
work.
To record the audio, the team primarily used earphone microphones and a
condenser microphone. They then took numerous takes to achieve the
intended feel and sound of the foley. The team then proceeded to edit the
materials in Adobe Audition to ensure that the desired effect was
appropriately portrayed. The crew ensured that the music and dialogues were properly emphasized, giving them their respective moments in the project.
SYNOPSIS:
‘The Cat’ is a terrifying short story inspired by the cautionary tale captured in
the phrase "be careful what you say." It follows a bunch of thrill-seeking youngsters on a daring adventure into the gloomy woods. Their quest takes a nasty turn when it is discovered that one of the characters has a deep-seated hatred of cats. Suddenly, the seemingly innocent feline turns malicious, reacting hostilely to the character's comments.
The team’s main goal is to recreate a horror thrill, putting the story of the
video to their advantage. As horror genres are known to have creative sound
design and sound approach.
