The carriage scene is already a classic. So hot their chemistry. Two interesting things: The actors didn't hear the director say cut outside the carriage - it was a closed carriage, not a set piece with open sides - and kept going for 10 minutes until the director opened the door and told them to stop, asking what the hell were they doing. Kinda embarrassing. LOL Also the actress said that when Colin ask consent to touch Pen, while Pen DIDN'T know what he was going to do or what it really meant, she trusts him so much to not harm her in any way that she simply would agree with anything he asked of her. It's lovely. I love this season so much.

The collective meltdown we had the day this was released. They are so sexy but also so cute giggling together. I think it's why i love friends to lovers, there is some really good intimacy there.

The small details in the carriage scene really make it special. The way she gives her consent. Also… did you notice the way he put her sleeve back up.. only using the fingers that hadn’t been…. Soiled 😂. I believe others have said that was something the actor choose to do himself. A very conscious choice indeed.

"Violet hit the nail on the head!" Yes! Her writing is so good this season. She says early on that she is stepping back, but after Colin came to her asking about love, she leans in to check on him and then casually drops that Pen might be engaged tonight 😉 She is so clever and caring and really has changed for the better in how she dotes on her children. The Violet of last season might have driven Francesca to madness 😅

Polin! I've been shipping this since S1. Every glance, everytime he said she was special to him. Now i know the drama comes strong, she'll be terrified of losing him like she lost Eloise. The actors are best friends in real life, Nicola Coughlan & Luke Newton & they are so adorable together, i've been watching videos of their shenanigans at their IG and youtube. I think it translates to the screen how much they get along and enjoy each other's company. Francesca and John are so cute together too. I think he's perfect for her, they are both introverted and quiet.

This season is shaping up to be my favorite, looking forward to what part 2 brings. 😬 There’s a lot of talk that Francesca has characteristics of a neurodivergent person, and I’m very interested in where they go with her story. Colin’s eyes say so much, I love his expressions. This episode will likely go down in history as a highly rewatched episode in any show…although Nic and Luke say this scene was tame compared to what’s to come. ☺️🥰 These reactions are making the wait for part two quite enjoyable. 😆🤗❤️‍🔥

A rake back then was like a playboy. It's not the same as a cheater as it's not generally a term that's used once a man is married or otherwise committed to someone. Playing the field or sleeping around or any of that is sort of expected of young men of the ton. I respect that Colin doesn't get his experience through manipulating or lying to women who might not be on the same page with him about the sex. He goes to pros. He does it kind of like taking a required college course. It's expected by the ton, required to learn what to do (this is basically high school health class, ton-style), but not really satisfying or fulfilling for him personally. Once he kisses Penelope, he knows for sure that she's what he wants at least partly because he felt more satisfied by one kiss from her than all the sex he had for months all over Europe. When she confirmed in the carriage that she wanted him back... that's when he decided to marry her. It's why Colin the gentleman didn't concern himself at all with whether the curtains were open, the footmen could hear, etc. He planned on her leaving the carriage an engaged woman beyond reproach, rather than a ruined girl with no prospects and a soiled reputation. He wouldn't take her fully for her first time in a carriage before marriage, but he was damn well going to claim her definitively so she knew in no uncertain terms that he was all in on them together forever. It was a brilliant move. Particularly because he made sure it was all about pleasing her, not taking something from her she wasn't ready to give freely yet. Pausing for her consent, making eye contact to make sure she was reciprocating his feelings, going slowly to give time for her to stop him if she wanted or needed to...Colin gets an A for his enlightened sexual behavior in that scene. I suspect he's been using the other encounters to figure all of this out, like taking notes in class. Making love with his wife (making it good for her) was always his goal, his final exam, so to speak. Anthony gave him a hard time about his sexual experience and romantic behavior because he didn't sleep around like he was supposed to, but he never did anything to rectify the problem as he saw it. His failing as the mentor here actually led Colin to figure it out his own way and probably worked out better for everyone. I am sure that Penelope is glad for his technique, even if we all wish he could have learned and refined it some other way.

I wanted to be online for the live but i had a family appointment. It's a wonderful first part of the season. I fell in love with Penelope and Colin. I love the man Colin is, he's so wonderful. I love that they were friends first and already know each other, i love the carriage scene and how well acted it was. And i love how he proposed to her.

Will can keep owning the club, but the unwritten rules of the ton say that he can't actively work there in a service capacity. Most members of the ton are owners - of land, businesses, investments, etc. They just don't do manual labor. It's part of the class distinction. If he hires a manager for the daily grind and comes occasionally as a host or an overseer, they'll shut up about the club.

One of the most interesting things about part 2 is going to be that Eloise is now in the same position that Pen was with Marina in season 1! To marry Colin without telling him would be a betrayal on Penelope's part--a different kind of betrayal than Marina's would have been, but a betrayal nonetheless. If Eloise gives Penelope an ultimatum, she'll have to tell him. I have no idea how Whistledown resolves in the books, but I'm excited to see how it plays out next week!
