    Goes to show that people believe in whatever they want to believe in. The guy knew about the Carbonaro effect, he could even see he was wearing a wig. But because he wanted to believe that the canotopia existed, somehow none of the obvious tells registered in his head.

    Carbonaro really should film the sleight of hand switch moments more often. The viewers know that he does this, but it's all edited out for some reason. It would add to the show greatly, since viewers also would go 'haha! that unsuspected victim didn't see the switch!'

    @@rad5207 wrong. A ton of tricks would fool in front of them but not fool people watching you on camera/from a third person. notice during almost every can switch, they pan to the actor and the actor is looking straight at Michael. This is common for magicians, they're masters of drawing eye contact. Much of close-up magic relies on momentary eye contact. This is when Michael switches the can or adds content into the can. They don't show us this because it would be glaringly obvious what he's doing from our outer perspectives. Source: I know a lot of magic

  • @MrFlameRad

    @MrFlameRad

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@rad5207 just watched it. Several ways that could've been done. As a rule of thumb, remember this: most tricks can be exposed by a camera, so often times the show will cut out part of the trick in order to keep us out of the loop, they almost never give us enough information to see how the trick is done. My best bet is that they simply had some sort of distraction. For instance, someone walking in between them, maybe a group of people even. Maybe the dog's trained to follow side by side to one of the people. Maybe Michael got the guy to look away for a moment. This is just off the top, the producers of the show probably came up with more clever ways to do it. Remember, the show isn't trying to fool us, they want to entertain us. They're trying to fool the victims. There's no incentive or need for them to show us the trick, when it would risk us figuring it out. He has hundreds of tricks where the magic happens right on camera, because those tricks work from any spectator angle. it's a minority of them that we don't get to see

    @@rad5207 - There is nothing to your claim. What do you mean "each cut"? There's only one cut, where the switch happens, and there could easily have been minutes passed. There was nothing about their body position of movement to show it was less than a second. In fact, his finger position on the phone is slightly different before and after the cut. It's all about slight of hand and distraction. For example having a couple of people passing by, distracting the victim, one asking him something, while the other swaps the dog. Doesn't take more than a seconds. It really is that easy and it's how it's done. Check out the candid camera show Just For Laughs. They always show all parts of the pranks, so you see exactly how it's done and they have many pranks similar to this one.
