Candy roasters are great. Now a pumpkin we like that is as good maybe a little better is Seminole pumpkins. Now these will grow all over the place. We had 2 plants and they went everywhere. Even 30 feet up trees. With 2 plants we got 21 pumpkins, They store very well,we just finished the last one a bit ago. We do have some canned as well. Have seeds out the wazoo. We are in the process of moving to Mcdowell county Nc.

Hi Frugal Farmsteader. We have never tried a Seminole pumpkin. We will have to try that. They sound very prolific which is exactly what we want. Thank you! We are definitely going to get some seeds to grow next season. You won’t be far from us at all. Let us know when you move. 🙂

I have never frozen pumpkin or candy roasters, I'll try it. I have a few I need to preserve. I love your hint on the instapot/ pressure cooker peel trick. That was definitely an aha experience (why didn't I think of that) moment. Thanks for sharing.

Did you say a friend gave you the fruit? If he is local it's possible the seeds are acclimated..i would experiment n put a couple in ground with lots of hay I'm from north of you yet n mom always planted squash n pumpkins in the rhubarb patch threw bags of leaves over it n by Easter we had fruit..just a thought

Hi lady ryan, we saved some seeds already. A friend who lives about an hour away gave them to us. I would have never thought to plant it that early with leaves. We may have to experiment with that. Thank you!!!!
