Agreed, that is why I am building a 1969 CJ5. Found it in Christmas valley, has the old school safari top! Original 48,000 miles. It is so small, like a UTV with a license plate! It is going on a flat bed behind my big rig…. Then I can get anywhere!! The van is easier for sure… can’t wait to see your fabrication shop Jason

One nice thing when you have a camp like that all set up. Nobody is going to stop you from taking a nap if you're tired. We do five/six day trips every year where we set up a base camp and then stay in that spot the whole time.

What I’ve always done with tent and hammock camping when the wind becomes annoying is use my ear plugs. A trick learned while working graveyard shifts and having to sleep when the entire world is awake.

We camp primarily with out off road travel trailer. It is the most comfortable for sleeping and cooking. MY wife and I are in our mid 70's. When we were younger we only tent camped. We still have our tents and use them in situations when we can not use the travel trailer. I am looking forward to a paddling trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area next fall. Canoe and sea kayaking opens up more areas to explore. Tents in the wind is a bummer for getting a good night sleep. That is one reason I do not have a roof top tent. I have been using a Suzuki Grand Vitara for the past 12 years as an off road rig. With a good lift and oversize tires it is a going machine. When it dies I am thinking about an old fashion 2 door jeep wrangler. The 4 door version are just too big for the places I would like to explore.

I agree how it is a good thing to be able to set up but still be mobile. I fell in love with your tear drop set up which by its nature is an instant set up should simple “housing” be required by weather or time of the day etc. My valiant gives me that capability. Great video. I love the winter camp episodes especially. Appreciate you taking us along on your adventures!

I have been using a bunch of cheap duffel bags now for years, color coded. I keep camping gear in them sorted by use, cooking/sleeping/clothing/tools/camp/campfire. As long as things go back in the right bag.. Basically all of the little stuff that makes things just a little easier.

By the way, if you're looking for reliable outdoor gear and home backup power products, I highly recommend checking out the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series.
