I completely agree with everything you said in this video. It's really when I didn't think about what I was seeing, I really got the best photographs.

that video was very on point. i don't shoot that much street but even when it comes to documenting your life it's always to keep that camera aimed at the a scene for a second longer and take that second shot. even when shooting film. also, thanks for the honesty and showing your "failed" attempts. seems like nothing teaches us more than mistakes when made ourselves.

Great job Hashem. It’s hard to articulate what you’re explaining and you did a really clear illustration. I call it my ‘gut’ instinct - f8 hyperfocal and react! Always pays off!!!

Shooting with film ist the most honest way in street photography. Digital is often overcorrected in post and doesn't show the real life and motions of the scene.

"That's not what I was trying to capture in my shot but I'm glad I got the other interesting subjects with what I was trying to capture" I've unknowingly done this on a few occasion's and it tells a better story than what I originally hoped to capture. Like your thoughts and candor Hashem

A lot of the times I start thinking while taking a journalist-type photo I’m left with missed opportunity. That’s a beauty of street photography - feeling the moment, shooting and at the very end thinking.

There’s only small percentage of picture you can control in a split second of street photography, rest of it is pure luck. But boy, when stars align, you’re left with a gem.

it's a mistake, cartier bresson was not against crops, but we believed that for a long time because he stamped his picture that he sent to the newspapers with the sentence "do not crop". In fact he asked those who used his photos not to crop them, which does not mean that he did not crop them beforehand, it was a way of protecting his vision.

What an absolutely incredible video. So well spoken, such great insights, amazing photos and just such a exceptionally made video. So so proud of you, this was incredible to watch and hear you talk about and I 💯 agree. I think I kinda find it hard to sometimes take these kinda fast shots (even tho I have taken quite a few), but yeah I find it hard cos of the nature of my camera and how I don’t zone focus and have to spend some time to focus and do the light meter reading, and I’ve seen how you shoot where you just point for a second and that’s it - maybe it’s time I start practicing sunny 16 and zone focussing haha. Anyway suuuuch a great video again, well done!! ❤️

Thank you as always Sarah ❤ 😊 Haha yeah that's a really good point actually, something I could have addressed. You would probably need to really master your gear first to adopt that style, or have something that streamlines the process like a digital with AF, wide lens, or rangefinder etc. Even then, it's not always possible, and there are definitely advantages to shooting "slow" as well.

If I'm walking, I always try to look like 10m ahead of me, to try to antecipate someone/something. More often that not, I catch myself looking right in front of me, but I try to correct it by doing an effort of looking a little further

Great video! As a photographer, if you see something that’s interesting to you, you’re better off taking the shot and attempting to capture what you see. It might not turn out, but it might be exactly what you were expecting or maybe even better

As much as I like film, being able to shoot with impunity is probably the greatest advantage of digital. Each shot is literally free on my Sony, while with my Mamiya, I’m a little more trigger shy and selective. It would be a waste of a digital body to not shoot whatever piques your interest, if even for a moment. Though there are very few 35mm digital bodies that could come close to the size of older 35mm rangefinders. 😇

My 2 cents, I think whatever mental hangups people have about altering their images after they take them is ridiculous, within reason. If you used a paint brush instead of a camera you never would have put that wall in there in the first place. You're limited with your creative tools and shouldn't let them get in the way of your vision and final creation. You want to crop an image? Crop it. You want to boost the shadows in your Portra 400 scan because the shot was amazing and you kinda messed up on the exposure? Just do it. Who cares? Only you care at the end of the day, and maybe some people that you probably shouldn't care what they think anyway.
