    they all look either burned out tired or on the verge of adderall overdose lol but in all seriousness, they did a fantastic job this season no matter what score they received. I always had my head turned their direction in the lots and they never cease to amaze me after all these years.

    Cadets getting 6th in percussion makes absolutely no sense to me. Idk what the judges were thinking. This was one of the most demanding books of any percussion section this year. And they seem to be executing it very well. I definitely would like to hear a judge's tape.

    Demand isn't everything. To be honest, there are some parts of this book that are simply too difficult. It's one of the most demanding books I have seen in a while. It's very impressive, for sure, but it has to be together all the time, which it simply wasn't here.

    Can anybody answer these questions for me ?.....Do you visualize the colors of the notes that are being played by looking off a-far instead of looking down at the drum and how should I personally practice show music, measure by measure or what ? Finally how do I effectively practice dynamics on certain parts of the music while listening to myself and what im playing and Is it okay to count out loud on snare parts..If someone could answer these questions for me thanks.

  • @subbot8077

    @subbot8077

    it's for stability and balance with the instrument, the snares and basses only need one post and having a second one would be overkill and unnecessary weight. the tenors require it though, mostly due to the increased weight and the amount of notes played away from the center of balance with the drums. hope that helps, two years late lol

    Carlos Hall during performances, never look down at your drum. Check your angles/hands/etc while practicing. Our techs don't like us looking at our hands during warm ups or rehearsal, but every tech is different. Take all music in chunks. Small chunks first, put them together for slightly bigger chunks. Counting out loud definitely helps the understanding of where the music correlates to your feet and the metronome. Try doing that with grids. Dynamics come from how well you control your hands for each stroke. Practice all four strokes, especially the upstroke. Apply the technique for the first note of crescendos, however rebound will help tremendously with the height increase, so stay relaxed. Hopefully I'm not TOO late and helped you out some :) keep practicing

    Carlos Hall BDB is one of the last groups holding auditions, who I am trying out for, but their auditions are this weekend in California. You probably have the chance to try out for a winter line next season, which gives you time to practice and get ready for all that great jazz. Good luck man!

I'm not the best at marching but God's will I really want to work on it but I truly understand its more than about playing...You've got to be able to march....Im 21 from Macon, Ga
