No house of the devil is the first horror movie

This is one of those things that if your into 'alternative' stuff you've heard about but never explored. That Nick Cage movie got me further down this road than I've been.

The remastered version is a must see. One of the greatest films of all time that no one talks about.

Most likely the first film to include a "twist ending", but also.... probably the first one to inlcude "Flashbackception" as well? SPOILER: Because of the scene in which Francis reads Caligari's diary, and then the film cuts to a flashback (the whole thing is already a flashback by Francis himself).

I read somewhere that this is actually about a patient perception realization of why he's in an insane asylum. The abstract sets/art Express horror, anxiety & collapse of society overall. As much expressionist art relays. If you think about it, it makes complete sense. What do killers in horror movies represent? Perhaps revenge of someone who's had enough with this society as the Joker seemingly portrays. I know that's not considered a horror film. But to him society is definitely horrible

For most Silent films, including this one, the score was played live. And it was usually never the same score twice. Also, they didn't record the scores either.
