MISTAKE Correction: An oversight I made in this video is that not all game sales were made at 9.99. The game has a large following in Brazil, where its price matched to the local currency.

I can also tell you that it's not just the 30% Steam cut you need to take away. As you say, games are sold at different prices in different countries and different countries also have different tax rules on sales, which is deducted BEFORE Steam take their 30%. So its even less than just price*0,3 :) - in reality it's more like USPrice*0,5 that the game dev gets - and then the game dev have to pay what ever tax in their country to get the money out :)

@@Laumania the 9.99 takes that into account tho, steams pricing the devs set is based on pre-tax pricing, steam adds the region tax ontop of whatever the price is. best example is aus, thor sells it for the same price in aus that he does in america but its still 1-2 dollars more expensive (atleast on the surface since USA adds thier tax at checkout) cause of the sales tax.

Thor and a friend of mine that streams on Twitch have raided each other prior to PirateSoftware blowing up everywhere and despite just how crazy this past year has been for him, he hasn't forgotten the people he's met along the way and has that "a rising tide lifts all ships mentality", continuing to put the spotlight on and help so many others. The guy is just the kind of pure soul with a good head on his shoulders that you rarely see nowadays, so I'm just thrilled to have met him online and been able to chat with him. If you're an aspiring...well, I was going to say aspiring game dev or streamer, but if you're an aspiring anything, I cannot recommend just watching his streams and content. They're entertaining, informative, helpful and incredibly inspiring. Go make your game. Do that thing you didn't think you could do or that you thought nobody would like. Do it for you.

Game dev content is overall pretty niche actually, compared to most other forms of content. The actual number of game developers, professional and hobbyist are actually pretty small compared to the ocean of Twitch and KZread. But gaming is obviously massive, I think where he was successful is making the arcane art of game development/software engineering easier to digest for the market of gaming content consumers. Similar to how old TV shows like "How its Made" broke down concepts of industrial engineering and supply chain management for the public; where as otherwise they would have no interest in how a basketball is made.

Most corporate game dev literally have their employees sign NDA prohibiting them from talking about their game until official release, because they pay huge amounts of money for curated marketing. Indie games are way more likely to give development insight because they can use it as cheap marketing. It is still however an extremely new thing and most developers would prefer to control the release of information through genuine game journalists and publishers.

I'm a grandad, I been watching Thor's stream. Had to figure it out he's actually talking to young folks on Twitch, and had to figure out Twitch while I was at it. YT shorts doesn't give me the other conversation, just Thor's responses. He's a great mentor Young folks don't know what they got till its gone. In my day it was Microsoft Foundation classes (MFC), JAVA was just coming to be, and Oracle... I actually ran a Oracle database on my home PC configured with Solaris by Sun Microsystems (then). Solaris 8 didn't like my DEC Alpha 1200, but didn't mind my IBM 365 w/ dual Pentium Pro 200mhz CPUs and 16 MB (yes! MB!) RAM. No DDR anything! Did have hot swappable 500mb HDD's. SSDs didn't exist then. I gave up on the programming dream when C# was coming to be and Microsoft said my skills are "too green." I thought you were sposed to get a job to improve skills, IDK... And ya just can't go wrong befriending a fellow animal lover. Ferrets are cool. I'm a cat and dog person. I don't think the god Thor minds our Thor using his name, gods are all about the common GOOD (minus an O and we get GOD). And Thursday, uhm "Thor's day." well go figure. Dude wears his heart on his sleeve, never seek the wrath of those who expose their heart. If ya do you'll know. Every god has an equalizer, right Mojlnir? I consider him your generation's techie prophet. He's very wise! Even I'm takin' notes cuz he ain't too far off the mark! Whatever team he's on, I'm on. People who can manipulate computers like he can, and openly share their universe of knowledge, all I got is mad cred for the guy. Good to know there's folks like him in the world, doing his part, keepin young folks (and others like me) stay safe with computers. It's not a bad field, just competitive af.

So, recent update about the Ferret Rescue: They've gotten *10* new ferrets in the last week and a half. They're currently housing THIRTY THREE ferrets! The house they're moving to will be able to house up to 100 ferrets. And they don't temporarily house them and then rehome them. Snail's House is their *forever home.* Shaye and Thor will be keeping all the wigglers they take in, together, permanently. Ferrets tend to bond, and bonded ferrets can die from being apart from the other ferrets they're bonded to. And Shaye and Thor make sure to take care of their medical expenses, be very mindful of their treatments. Shaye's day-job (yes, Shaye has a frickin' day-job ON TOP OF taking care of 33 wiley little ferrets and being Thor's art designer!) is as a veterinary assistant, so they're trained in giving the ferrets proper care. Which is essential because there are *numerous* ferrets in their care who have chronic illnesses, disabilities, and even cancer! And they pay for all of it and make sure the ferrets are all safe and well taken care of. So like, Thor is amazing in every way, but so is his team. Shaye is an incredible human-sized-ferret who is so dedicated to the little buggers they care for, it's truly magical. My partner found Thor's KZread shorts and was inspired to get back into programming, and I popped into Thor's stream to give him our Twitch Prime suba s a thank you, wound up watching him for like 8 hours, and then noticed the link to the ferret rescue. It is just...pure dopamine, lol. I now keep the ferret stream up 24/7, because the ad-revenue takes care of the wigglers, and I just want to help them out in any way I can. They really are incredible people. Thor isn't just online talking about this stuff. They're the real deal. And it's beautiful.

Everything i did in the video was done in Davinci resolve, which is a super great, free, editing software. Its a little intimidating but if she have a certain goal in mind she'll catch on quick. One thing I've done is record my self digitally Drawing and then I'll edit it down to look more like an animation. I hope this points you in the right direction! Let me know if there's anyway I can help

You forgot to mention before he got his platform, he tried to ruin Matt Patt's reputation just because they titled their video an Undertale-like game and even got Toby Fox involved in the misinformation. He's no saint as your video implies. He knows what he's doing, and sadly you young kids are easily fooled. Search it up, there should be articles made during that time. That's how he actually got started, and no one questioned him about it. But he knows.
