Building SWANSONG Part 1

In my late 70s I decided to build a power catamaran more suited to my age. My displacement catamaran SWANSONG will enable cruising and fishing in both the local harbours and along the coast.
Whether using aluminium, fibreglass or timber, building your own boat is extremely rewarding. There is considerable cost saving, but of course you have to have the free time, and access to a decent shed.
Power catamarans are my choice - stable, roomy and comfortable. I've been involved in the build of many Roger Hill designs over the years and they have all been exceptional craft, both in performance and aesthetics. You can visit his website at powercatsnz.com.
These SWANSONG videos of mine are not intended as instructional videos on how to build a foam core boat, but simply the story of how I did it. You may or may not approve of some of my boat building methods - you are welcome to comment.
My son Kim, whose shed I'm building the boat in, has a fishing charter business in Rarotonga that operates three boats. All these boats are powered by Honda outboards.

His website shows the earlier version. While the hull form is much the same, the current profile is as I have shown. Cheers.

When you mix up epoxy put the container into a ice bath. Stay cool, last longer before setting up.
