*Detailed Description:*
In Japan's Sengoku period, constant warfare left many compelling stories but also unparalleled cruelty. In today's video, we will focus on the most brutal siege battles, ranked by their tragedy, to reveal the bloodshed and suffering behind these conflicts.
First, we look at the Battle of Kunohe Castle, led by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. This war originated from a succession dispute within the Nanbu clan, where Kunohe Masazane rebelled against Nanbu Nobunao, resulting in the Toyotomi army's massacre and the castle engulfed in flames.
Next, we turn to the Battle of Miki Castle, led by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Hideyoshi besieged the castle for an extended period, cutting off supplies and causing extreme starvation, with more deaths from hunger than combat.
Then, we will discuss the ruthless tactics of Date Masamune. During the Battle of Kotesashi Castle, he mercilessly slaughtered the surrendered garrison and civilians, including women and children, to intimidate surrounding enemies.
Following that, we analyze Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s infamous Battle of Tottori Castle. After cutting off the food supply, cannibalism emerged within the castle, and the siege only ended when the castle lord, Kikkawa Tsuneie, committed seppuku.
Finally, we review the horrific scenes of Oda Nobunaga’s annihilation of the Ikkō-ikki Rebellion. Nobunaga completely eradicated this resilient force through starvation and fire, resulting in the death of thousands in despair.
These siege battles not only highlight the strategic and military prowess of the Sengoku daimyo but also expose the suffering and sacrifices of countless innocents in warfare. Please remember to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments. See you in the next video!
