I’m watching it for the second time we need season 2

Huge respect for the writers for actually researching on triad lore and their connection with the boxers

The way my heart kept crying for Charles throughout the show😭

Just binged it and loved it. Bruce’s character development was amazing. He sounded almost manipulative by the end when convincing Charles to kill his father. He was calculative and kept the goal of protecting his family the priority, and did it all with minimal violence. At first you see Charles as the cool one, but then you realise Bruce (who was raised more normally), was the one who had his priorities straight the whole time. He did struggle and fumble, but it’s realistic since he wasn’t raised in the gang life and didn’t know how to fight or react. And in turn because he wasn’t raised and conditioned in the life like his brother was, he was the one who could see the situation more clearly and see their father as the abusive person he is. The story and the action scenes (especially that golf one with the drone shots) were amazing

Great acting, great writing. The way the series explored some cultural difference between L.A. and Taipei was pretty thoughtful. I'm hoping there is a season two.

Big Sun was right; Bruce using the Boxers the way he did was something his father would have done, meaning if he ever abandoned his conscience, he'd turn out just like his dad.

I watched the first episode with zero expectations and was hooked after the first 10 minutes. Binged from 1am to 10am lol I can't wait for season 2.

The letter proved to Alexis to not show mercy in her job, no half measures. So do you think her letting Charles go was not following her jobs duties and it came back to bite her? I loved this show amd the writing but I was left confused with Alexis. Her motives were muddled to me amd I couldn't tell if she was vying for power and being elected the DA or if she was more genuine about her feelings for Charles

I think the point is that she herself is conflicted and unsure of her own motives. I think Charles' criticism of her rings true -- she is a workaholic and in the selfish pursuit of her career and power, she has isolated herself and lives a very lonely life. In my mind, her letting Charles go was an attempt at absolution for her. I was hoping Charles and Alexis, as opposite extremes, would work through their issues together (her being a self-centered workaholic, and him being devoted to his "family" at the expense of his own self expression and personage), and bring balance to the force... But alas, here's for hoping for Season 2!

I intended to give this a try and only watch one episode. I binged and couldn't stop. It was fantastic. Combined action and a great story while AVOIDING politics as much as possible.

I just binged it this weekend. It’s a well written show. The actors are superb!

Yeah not Bruce's greatest moment. Bruce was going to have it all if either the mom or Charles become dragon head. Bruce is still a good character imo but he really does do some dumb stuff that make no sense.

Charles was such a good character because he has such a traumatic life he just wants peace and to do wat he wants then seeing Alexis take advantage of that fact was tough because she was his only light in his life and she just used him to complete her agenda

Best show ever made by Netflix kudos to everyone who involved with this masterpiece

It needs to be said, that we are rooting for the bad guys. Both boxers and Alexis were absolutely justified in their actions. That being said, I felt terrible for Charles, who was absolutely just a tool who was repeatedly emotionally abused by everybody close too, him (even Bruce, lol). I also really disliked that mama sun got her "bad bitch" moment and filmmakers repeatedly made excuses for her, while her actions were as brutal as those of other gangsters.

What I found kinda hard to believe was like all the major leaders in this show were women (the song assasin twins , grace from the boxers and mama sun) 😅 But yeah , a lil bit girl power trip here and there but overall it was a good show . And yes it’s like in one piece where we root for the pirates despite them being the bad guys but here the Boxers went about it the wrong way(and who’s to say they wouldn’t have take the crown for themselves after getting rid of all the leaders ? )

In the end, Charles mom (Eileen) got her dream of becoming the dragon head and getting her son to stand by her side.was a huge bonus. June became their new Xing. Charles chose family over a life of possible marriage and kids with Alexis. Some things are not meant to be.

I loved it so much. The action scenes, dialogue. Emotional aspects too very relatable.

I believe Big sun's second in command definitely wants big sun out of the way for sure so he can take over. Which will be the conflict The mother and Charles will face next season.

Great show. The Boxers saw themselves as the modern day incarnation of the Boxer Rebellion of 1901 inwhich the Boxers were peasant background and sought to imperialists and foreigners.

I just finished it, it's Brilliant!

Brother Sun was amazing and we all know season 2 is coming. Big sun will come back with a vengeance and Bruce will be there to save the day again.

Didn’t see any trailers but heard great things about it. I just finished the series and loved it! Hopefully it gets renewed for season 2.

Blood boots was a real G, the type of guy you gravitate towards in school or whatever. So positive and chill. He was the first to support bruces improv. Im pissed how bruce and xing were the only ones grieving him. The mother and charles were cold as hell. Blood boots died for a family who wouldnt sacrificed anything for him... wtf

Finished the series in one sitting. Best in Netflix rn. Incredible cast, fight scenes were just insane. Need season 2 soon.

I don’t understand, please explain who was in the post-credits scene, was it Sun (who is the head of the family)?

I can’t be the only one who thinks the mum was pure evil, Charles should’ve been the Dragon Head he was raised in it, fucked up part is Big Sun wanted to protect her and Bruce that’s why he sent Charles in first place. But the mum was pure evil hospitalising big sun, not to mention the affair. Then finally breaking the code and betraying him again during the voting. Hated both mother and Bruce and the fact that they won and got what both of them wanted. Whilst the dad who wanted Charles to be on Top would’ve been interesting to see him reach his full potential.

Yes the mother was ruthless in her job but you can see her kids were part of her priority. The father sent them to do his own bidding. He literally said she was merely doing it for his own gain. Good thing the mother new her husband’s betrayal. Imagine going away after working hard to find smth against your enemy to protect your family. Your only instructions were to be informed when your family needed you. The mother’s sister died without her knowing. Part of the film’s major theme was sibling. Charles wouldve retaliated more it the same thing happened for him.

But the way she wanted to end the Triad violence was to use more violence. I'm not sure it would have ever ended, really. Like with Charles, once someone has killed, they cannot go back to their previous innocent state.

It was a fun watch even though really poorly written in many ways. I was also a bit bummed that Martial Club didnt have a fight scene with Charles. Some of the characters made no sense as well as the ending didnt really make any sense for Charles to go back to a life of crime. I did enjoy how cheesey it was as well as the fight scenes.

Bruce gave me a headache. I loved his motivations but him as a character I hated so much

At one point I just started skipping parts simply because the character Bruce, combined with the sometimes out of place humor. Instead of enjoying the series, it was driving me nuts . 😂

This show was a mess, between charles not knowing his phone was trapped, Bruce became the shadiest character in the show and where supposed to be on his side, Charles under reacting to being betrayed and just making a complete 180 from his character, it wrapped up unbelievably easy for all the back stabbing and shadiness going on, I was annoyed

I think Charles had been in a near constant state of emotional numbness since he killed a man at fourteen. He had to suppress his emotions to keep doing what his father demanded. We saw glimmers of emotion coming through when he fell for Alexis, then rage when she gaslit him, and how he had come to care for Bruce enough that, for the first time in his life, he couldn't obey his father's wish to kill. At the end, Charles was smiling and hugging Bruce. With his father out of the way, he was liberated.

Alexis is a honeypot, some part of me do wants Alexis to get back with Charles but i also understand that there’s no way an ambitious person running for DA would want to have any business with big triad boss. This just shows character tbh, Charles is “protect the family” and people he cares about, while Alexis is “do whatever it takes” to have what she wants

Alexis was looking out only for herself. Charles was a stepping stone to the DA job then President. In S2 I would like to see Charles with June. She is loyal, has the family's back and understands what Charles needs to be for the family. But she also can be a safe place emotionally (thinking of the piano scene).

Just watched. This show had such a promising start. Everything from cast, storyline, intrigue, characters. First 3 episodes were phenomenal. However it quickly degenerated from what could have been a great show to a hastily cobbled together watch-once 'craaazy twists' type thing that betrayed its own premises of family first honor, introduced then killed off super cool interesting characters way too fast and made you question the moral premises of everyone in the show. Loved what it could have been but hugely disappointed by the writing

Sun is rightfully pronounced as "soon" and not "san". Ba is "Pa". Quite unfortunate that they hired American Chinese actors who are not Mandarin speakers. Only Michelle Yeoh and the husband spoke correct Mandarin.

Great series. But I absolutely hate that "Bad Bitch" ending Netflix often does ( they did it in Do Revenge, for example). Where Male Villain is ultimately replaced by a female protagonist, who is realistically just as bad or worse. Which on it itself is annoying, but filmmakers often do it in gangster movies. But in bad bitch ending, they have the audacity, take a moral stance against the bad guy, BUT, let smb with same flaws succeed without any drawbacks.

I enjoyed the series but not the ending. Primarily because of Bruce’s character. He was just so annoying, he’s in a family of badasses, he’s in the company of badasses, and all this dude does is cry, snitch, put em all in danger and cry some more. I was hoping that towards the end of the season he would become a badass himself but he just remained overly annoying the whole time. If there is a season 2 I hope they do something with his character or just not put him in it at all. Follow the Mom/Charles/June storyline in Taipei, I don’t want to watch a dude doing improv

I loved the over the top action/fighting but did not like the ending. I also could not relate to the main characters. I'm Chinese American born to immigrants who busted their asses, worked from morning to night, barely seeing my parents. My dad worked in restaurants and my mother worked as a waitress as a 2nd job. I felt more of a connection to the Boxers than I did to the main characters. I kind of wanted the main cast to suffer and if they died I would not feel sorry for any of them, even Bruce. Gawd, make up your mind Bruce. I just really feel bad for the Boxers.

I get they were trying to get an "accurate" portrayal of Asian Americans, but tried too hard and made some parts real cheesy. Like how the younger son rescued Michelle with a bunch of stupid aunties. Gtfo. First off, irl aunties would've been too afraid to go, and secondly, yes, blood thirsty killers would just let a bunch of randos come and take away a key hostage.

This series demonstrate why we must always be cautious of the chinese... even the most outwardly harmless chinese (like michelle yeoh's character) can turn out to be an important member of the mob....

I did not like the story, all selfish

Awesome show! Would've given it 5 stars but the guy who plays Bruce ruins the show for me. Absolutely horrid at acting that it makes me cringe everytime he talks. Everyone else was great. I just with they would've found a different person for the role of Bruce.

I really enjoyed this show the prosecuted was the weakest part. The show was so good, so grey, I don't think anyone came out clean but not all were evil
