Brontosaurus was first discovered in 1874, but in 1903 scientists at the time determined that specimens discovered were identical to Apatosaurus, therefore making the Brontosaurus genus invalid. Despite this, "Brontosaurus" was already a household name, and that's why even though it was an invalid genus it's name was still used in pop culture for over a hundred years! HOWEVER, in 2015, a study conducted on diplodocid dinosaurs determined that there were enough differences between Apatosaurus specimens and Brontosaurus to consider them separate genre, making Brontosaurus a valid genus yet again!

Brontosaurus is often shown with keratin neck spikes because the shape of its neck vertebrae has protrusions on the sides

Yeah, the neck spikes are an example of speculative features that palaeo artists include in their drawings. It has some scientific basis but until a piece of mummified sauropod neck is found that shows off how the internal structures show through the skin. But this kind of finds are extremely rare in paleontology as it stands, so finding it specifically for a close relative of Brontosaurus could require a miracle of preservation.

I might be wrong about this, but last I knew, a Brontosaurus skull has actually never been discovered! It's also predicted that they had relatively small brains to help combat high blood pressure from their heart having to pump blood up their necks into their heads!

@Khornelia do you mean that it is getting better? Your first comment said it "needs to get better" so I assumed you meant that there were improvements you think should be made?
