First of all not even 240 countries! Second soccer sucks! Great athletes! Maybe in the best shape next to motocross racers! But the reason they play soccer is cuz one right I and would have killed them! And that's why I played American Football the only football! Because Rock would have crushed me too!

*Combined Walcott Charles Moore Louis already had 431 fights before they fought Rocky. Add the 96 fights Louis had during his 4 year military service, that's 527 fights not to mention Walcott and Louis retired for 6½ years. Those four were already ring worn and washed. Anyone that says otherwise is biased.*

In "The Gods of War" by Springs Toledo Joe Louis said *"It didn’t matter what stance Sonny Liston fought from, he was the best I ever saw.”* So which is it? Sonny was the best or Rocky was the best? Compliment one guy one month and a different guy the next month. At that particular time when Joe was heavily into drugs he woulda said anything for 20 dollars. That's why Quotes should always be treated with a grain of salt. On camera many people said many nice things about Rocky but off camera they all hated him bcz they knew he was affiliated with the Mob. They also knew what he did to his kids and wife.

The Italian infant of Krypton was Superman. He broke 1,247 bones, knocked out 4,679 teeth, and ruptured 792 blood vessels. I also know for a fact that little Rocky is god , bcz when he walked the earth shook.* Rocky was actually 5' 9" (1.75 meters), according to Rocky Marciano's biographer John Cameron; his reach was 67" (1.70 meters) incredibly short for Heavyweight; by way of comparison, today's Bantamweights (115-118 lbs) average 67.7". And all the PEDs in the world ain't gonna help little dwarfism-arms grow longer. *I'm not being disrespectful, only realistic. According to Rocky Marciano himself, Muhammad Ali would have won. Rocky said three boxers in his lifetime were a bridge too far for him, a young Joe Louis, Sonny Liston, and Ali. Louis for hand speed and power, Ali for pure speed, and Liston for technical excellence and pure brute strength. --by Mike Stanton and Fight City Rocky Marciano said of Liston: “He isn't faking his toughness, and his strength is just something you got to see, and that jab, he can knock a man out with the jab!" When asked how he would have fought him, the Rock shook his head and said “I’d have done my best, but Lord God he is strong…” Marciano opponents (not in exact order): *We see their entire "CAREER" record, not a partial record. Rocky Marciano was the best of all time. I would only put Ali at his level, because i think that with different styles and in different generations, they were the two best fighters boxing has ever seen. Marciano had the strength, the heart, the power punch, while Ali had the speed, the foot work and the agility. Two great fighters, but Marciano was the type of boxer that everyone want's to see. There's not a single boxing fan that wouldn't pay the ticket to a Marciano's fight. If Marciano did what he did to an excellent boxer like Ezzard Charles, imagine what he would do to nowadays boxers like Adamek and Arreola...

Rocky was the best of his time no doubt, and possibly could have smashed many heavyweight champs up till today. NO one I have seen has the ability to land so many big punches in such a consistent and relentless way. He seemed to be a natural at gaining leverage and power from all angles without missing the target much at all. That torque he created was like mike tyson except from all directions. Being undefeated as a heavy weight champ has never been repeated, and probably never will be.

Yes, that is the book. I read another one years ago, but I can't recall the name of it. He knew he wasn't the most skilled fighter, so he made it a point to be in better shape than anyone else. That is one of the things that set him apart, along with his heart and punching power.

one the most impressive things to me is how relentless he was on the attack.footage shows him to be ceaseless on the inside,i mean the guy appears super areobically gifted,in shape maximum.to keep some of these continuous onslaughts goin on,is way beyond the limits of almost all heavywieghts i can think of.i mean u slip this guy,he keeps comin,u hit this guy,u weave him, duck him, back up,and he's ALWAYS still comin with a BRICK in his hand.this fighter was very special, more than i thought.

EXACTLY! Archie Moore went on to fight 15 years after his loss to the Rock! He is the ONLY MAN to fight both Ali, and the Rock in their primes. Yes, Archie got owned by a prime Ali, he was in his early 50s and he was able to chase around a Prime Ali for a few rounds and put up a half-way decent fight. How many other 52+ year olds could do that? Some say he was even 57...Anyway he holds the record for the most KOs for a reason. He fought EVERYBODY at Light Hv to Heavyweight and reigned as..

Ali was able to back up much of his hype, until about 1976, then he started having big problems. But you can't beat the clock. Ali's last few fights were all the more sad. Marciano knew when to bow out gracefully, preserving his legacy. He probably didn't care much about his unbeaten record. Not nearly as much as many of us. Some hate it, others love it. But in the end, it is what it is. No one can take that from him.

At 185 lbs., Marciano probably would still be undefeated today, as a cruiserweight. With his toughness and power, he'd rule that division for 20 years and his sheer will to win and dominance would make him the best fighter pound-for-pound by today's standards.

@congaddict ive studied punching in detail, its an interesting subject imo,and in my punching education i learned all the elements of a hard "pure" punch.Marciano seems to display all these elements perfectly.this guy punches right out of the book, and really hard.you can see his shots whirling with lots of wieght on them, frightening punching ability.as far as breaking bones, ill take your word for it,i know la starza,he got real beat up.ive heard he broke vessels but not bones.oh well.

Rocky only weighed 188 at his best but don't let his size fool you, he hit HARD! People sparring with him often left with broken blood vessels in their arms and he trained by hitting the heavy bag 15 3 minute rounds with 1 min rest, just like a fight. The punch that knocked out Jersey Joe in the 13th came like a wrecking ball from outer space!

I wish I'd been able to see Rocky live. A devastingly powerful fighter able to defeat opponents much heavier. Unbeatable! He wasn't, however the only heavyweight to retire undefeated. A US marine by the name of Gene Tunney did also. Tunney was lucky. Had it not been for "The Long Count" in 1926, the Great Jack Dempsey (upon whom Tyson modelled himself) would have recaptured the heavyweight crown. James J. Jeffries was considered by many to be the greatest heavyweight of all time. Had he been in shape after years of retirement, Jeffries would almost certainly recaptured the Heavyweight crown from Jack Johnson in Reno (1915).

@dempsey981 U R correct about Rocky's punching ability. The diff between him and the rest of the big hitters is that Rocky had leverage that came off the floor,a natural ability to shift his weight while swiveling his hips; which turned his punch momentum into incredible torque! And then the innertia, which was produced by that momentum is the reason why he would sometimes appear off balance when he missed. If he landed, LOOK OUT! No one else could contort their body to produce 925lbs of torque!

Several boxing websites have that info. I have read it in a Marciano biography as well. I thought another interesting sidenote was Rocky ran 6 miles a day year round, and when in training for a fight he would run 9-10 every day. About 2 weeks before the fight he would increase it to 15 miles a day.
