The British Wrestler (Full Length)
Ойын-сауық
VICE looks at the UK's underground wrestling scene, from the community centres of Plymouth to the streets of Glasgow. A far cry from the now faded memories of terrestrial TV's World Of Sport and even further from the glitz and glamour of the stateside WWE, Brits across the country have been escaping the banality of their everyday lives by moonlighting as pro-wrestlers in the largely unheard scene of today.

Grado has come so far since this film. He just appeared at ALL IN wembley stadium in front of 80,000 plus people!
I love this guy, he's so funny and he's following his dream, no matter what anyone thinks so well done.
Before you idiots say wrestling is fake, don't watch wwe, watch some indy shows. It's predetermined, but the shit fucking hurts and the wrestlers don't hold back

david maltais I'm glad you at least have the intelligence to use grammar correctly, oh wait..... Last time I checked amateur wrestles don't take thumbtacks to the back and flaming barbed wire bats to the face. Just stfu before you embarrass yourself further with your lack of knowledge of the world of professional wrestling

david maltais oh wow, I like your knowledgable insight on pro wrestling. grow the fuck up, the tights and makeup shtick is so old, it's pathetic that you trolls aren't even original anymore lol
Crazy how far Rockstar Spud has come, he went from small indie shows to WWE 205 live general manager.
R.I.P. Lionheart 🙌🏾💯
This is the type of pro wrestling I love, you need this ballsy type of performances.
Anybody else catch that “slip a pill in her drink” at 27:40?
People need to realise that wrestling is big in Britain, you don't need to like it but respect the people actually harming themselves for the people that do. Its not all do it for the kids with promotions like ICW, its trying to give something other than the shite on the tv today. Which is much better than it was before but ICW still offers something more than the big boys and to come from nothing in a country with 300 million less people than the USA then you have to praise it.

Wolfgang saying he doesn't wanna join the WWE and now he is a part of the WWE. Incredible.
I like Grado he's overcome all those hurdles yes it's been an up hill battle but he's well known in the UK he's got something that the fans like 👍
Pro wrestling is real, and it is the hardest business in the world. I am bound to get hate for this, but I am right, you are wrong.

dodgy Dogz Its fake in the same way cirque du soleil is fake. Pro Wrestling isnt a sport, but you cant say these guys aren't athletes. Wrestlers are thrown around like rag dolls multiple times a week for people entertainment. You dont have to like wrestling, but you should be able to respect the athletic feats these performers are able to accomplish. And if you really think wrestling is that easy, go do it. It looks like great money for a part time gig.

ivosnivo Comparing ProWrestling and Combat sports is apples and oranges. The argument that pro-wrestling is tougher is because of how often pro-wrestlers are expected to work. Compare Floyd Maywether and John Cena. In 2014 Maywether had 2 matches, while Cena preformed some where around 200 times. Of course wrestling is easier on the body then fighting, but the schedule has got to be demanding on the body in a way I cant even imagine. Getting thrown off the top rope on to your back on monday and having to get up tuesday and do it again seems just insane. And thats a kind of insanity you just gotta stand back and respect.

Since when did Patton Oswalt start wrestling under the persona "Grado"?
Idk if anybody got that bit where Grado was saying "I remember in the locker room looking at the old guys like they were old dogs" "Like hey Spot". It's from the wrestling documentary beyond the mat.

You know what, I always thought wrestling was stupid, but now when I look at this documentary its almost endearing. A group of people getting together, willfully suspending disbelief so that they can enjoy a "show", a type of "show" that can only happen if everyone sits there sub-conciously and goes "you know what, i know this is fake, but I want to join in the story that everyone else here is telling. I want to also tell the story so I can enjoy the story". It's like a play but with more interaction
@HeyitsJacobLOL

That's the mindset you have to have when watching it. Trust me as a guy who has wrestled it is hard. Plus there's is no off season. Their doing it for loads of days. Many reasons why some people get injured. I love wrestling for the atmosphere and storytelling. I always respect wrestlers. They are putting their bodies at risk, JUST FOR ENTERTAINMENT As a guy who has passion for wrestling. It insults me that people think it's fake. It's just a story. People like me have worked with making our characters and working really hard to make it.

You’re right. And I wouldn’t say fake. Those bumps and falls still hurt to an extent and the injuries are very real. It’s more scripted. But it’s entertainment. Movies are scripted too but we don’t call it fake. We call it entertaining.

Clearly some people genuinely take all this at face value and think all these guys are idiots, look into their history, dig a little and you'll find all these people are trying to do is entertain and earn money in a job they enjoy, watch the BBC documentary about them.

Grado possibly the most over baby face in indie wrestling history.
this is really entertaining in a cringey uncomfrotable way, whoever edited this documentary did a really good job of adding to that feel aswell. really enjoyed it
whats the name of that song from Wee Man? where to find it?
I love grado, great video
Focking Gradoooo.

Yes! Glad I wasn't the only one to spot that. Grado channeling his inner Dennis Stamp. Just not jumping on a trampoline in his boxer shorts xD
Where can I find Grado KZread account?
Was the "IM NOT INVOLVED" spot a parody of the bloke from Beyond the Mat
2 years later and all I can say is, MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Props to Grado for the Dennis Stamp tribute :D
I used to watch the world of sport wrestling recorded VHS tapes with my grandad back in the day then we'd watch WWF this was during the early day of the atatuide ere it was like 2 different worlds WOS for the 70s/80s and WWF in the mid/late 90s and early 2000s
What is the song at the end of the doc?
Sleeping Rockstar Spud is the most adorable thing ever.
I'd always known Grado was in this but I had no idea Spud was in this.
Had to watch this again before Grado shows up at Wembley All In.. ITS YERSEL!
What is the first song played called I can’t find it anywhere e
I liked the 'Beyond The Mat' pisstake!!
Life is a mystery everyone must stand alone I hear you call my name And it feels like home When you call my name it's like a little prayer I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there In the midnight hour I can feel your power Just like a prayer You know I'll take you there
Funny seeing Wolfgang say he doesn’t plan on going to WWE which he does and even wins a title
British wrestling with gabber. I was not expecting that 😂
19:33 Rockstar Spud
Grading and Rockstar spud👌🏻
absolutely enthralled with this, no fucking idea why.
thank god for these english subs
Oh my god at 5:52 did they dramatize that part of Beyond The Mat where Terry Funk is asking the guy to come to his last show?
Wasn't the lad with his shirt off from the Bucky boys on take me out recently ?
I saw Grado at Sonisphere and was fucking great.
I liked this, kinda heart warming in the end.
Cool seeing where Drake Maverick is now
Finn Balor (prince devitt), Adrian Neville (Pac), Magnus, Doug Williams, Nigel McGuinness, bad news barrett, William Regal, paige, becky lynch, and the icw guys are awesome
That’s him fae “two doors down” on bbc 😂
Hey Vice, you really don't need subtitles on the people without heavy accents.
