the Brand-NEW Lightroom Tools You NEVER Thought You Needed! (Dec 22 Update)

🌟Get My FREE 30 Minute Lightroom Essentials Course🌟
markdenneyphotography.com/fre...
In this week’s episode, we discuss the new Lightroom Tools you never thought you needed. Over the course of the past 2 months, Lightroom has released two significant updates. One of which adds a much needed layer of organization to the masking section and the other which provides us with a new masking tool and feature we never knew we needed. With the addition of both of these recent enhancements - it's safe to say that Lightroom has never been as powerful and user friendly than it is right now. I hope you enjoy this week's video and as always thanks so much for watching! - Mark D.

Good stuff. I've become a big convert to masking in Photoshop with he TK panel, but it's good to see Lightroom stepping-up its game. I can see using that Object selector quite a bit, and I've already been using LR's Content Aware fill a lot. CAF does a better job with sensor dust too.

Dodge and burn get me all the time too. It's because we no longer think of the negative process. Also, if you did the subject selection, you can then use the add or subtract feature that lets you use the brush to fine tune it.

Thanks Mark. Happy New Year. My standard workflow is to start in LR, jump to PS anytime I needed to "change" the image, then finish in LR. I find with the new tools, I jump to PS much less frequently. LR AI does a much better job than I can do in PS. There are still some finishing effects that PS can apply, but overall, LR is good for 90% of what I do.

Both of these tools look great and I want to say thanks for showing them. I was kind of hoping that the AI mask generating function could be applied to the content aware function. I can imagine using the object selection tool to something like a sign and then instead of doing a image adjustment you would just select content aware fill and it would exactly fill where the object is. I think the new content aware tool works much better but adding that extra little bit of precision using the AI selection tool could improve it that much more.

Hey Mark. Another great vid! TIP: I stumbled across a Brush tool feature that's super helpful when LR's AI "over-selects" the intended object/subject. Sorry if you've already discussed this but I hope you and your peeps find helpful. I use Brush "A" as my "variable" brush, but set Brush "B" as my "blow it out / aggressive" brush. With "A" I tweak the brush variables depending on the situation. With "B" I leave it set to 100% opacity and 100% flow. A simple CTRL + wheel increases or decreases the size. To Subtract I choose "Subtract using Brush", click on brush B and, Bam! I can clean up any "overflow" in a flash. If i have too add back in, I go back to brush A and play with the flow and opacity. It sure beats readjusting the brush variables all the time (if you only stay with using one brush). Hope this helps!

Was stoked to see they added CAF. Like you said, the clone & heal wasn't the best and like you, I would end up moving back n forth to remove objects between PS & LR. It is amazing that LR is becoming so powerful. But, then again, with the subscription base revenues, maybe they have much capital now to put towards constant development. Just a thought. Either way, love seeing the constant & meaningful updates. Keep up the great work on your end. Really helps out the community IMO!

Hey Mark, I’m recently subscribed, thanks for all the content! I have an unrelated question: Where do you order your picture frames from? And is there a difference between “poster frames” and “picture frames”? Thanks

Great video Mark, maybe you could move the girl a bit to the right, then she would stand in the middle of the picture (-: Is that also possible in LR12 ?

My subscription includes Ps and Lr. My $10 subscription rate was grandfathered in after they raised the price.
