    The saying is 1 bad apple spoils the bushel. It's because the rot released in the process of decay starts the other apples rotting. We see this in department after department where cops, police unions, politicians, lawyers, and justices do all they can to protect the bad apples from consequences. The whole policing system has been affected by the "bad apples." You see police go on strikes if one of their apples is charged for their actions. How do you identify the bad apples, remove them, and undo the rot that's been created in the systems and cultures to protect them?

    I once thought as you did Mary. A very good friend of mine is a cop. A few years of 1st amendment audit watching has changed my perspective. Not to mention all the negative coverage about police during covid jailing/fining business owners. These cops are tyrants that have no accountability. They are protected by their own. Internal affairs finds no wrongdoing for obvious infractions. Qualified Immunity allows them to basically do whatever they want without repercussion also. The true sovereign citizens...above the law. I want to believe that most cops are good but sadly that isnt the case.

    There was a lot going on during Covid that was incredibly trying. As a nurse, it was incredibly hard to figure out what the heck was going on for one, and then to stand my ground when I felt like my rights as a person were being violated. I think that a lot of people were really confused and scared. It is very scary when your livelihood is threatened. Not saying that what people did was right but I can definitely see both sides of things. And I am definitely thankful for those people who did stand up and say something❤️ I definitely got emotional watching this video because I feel like there’s a lot of people out there who do not get the thanks that they deserve. I send out thanks to all the electric company linemen who have worked around the clock to restore power after the hurricane down here in Texas. You're heroes to me. Oh dear lord yes. They're out there no matter what the weather is when power lines are down. There are some people that are living at home young and old that are on oxygen or dialysis machines Etc. that if it weren't for them they would die when the power goes out because some of them can't be gotten to for all the trees and everything that are down blocking the roads for they can't be getting to. And their job is extremely dangerous. It's been 20 years ago but I saw one of the lineman that was up in the air in the bucket trying to fix a transformer and he got hit by lightning and killed. So there was a family that lost a a grandfather, a son or a father. It goes without saying his family has a hole in their hearts from this. After 20 years I still think about them and pray for their family.😢😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️

    I’ve been an EMT since I was 18…… I won’t say how long that’s been. I knew I was supposed to be an EMT when I was kid. It’s in my blood I guess. I remember my friends working at Macdonald’s made more money than I did working on the ambulance. Pay has gotten better but I literally made minimum wage but I didn’t care AT ALL. I was getting to do what I always wanted to do. I got to be a stay at home mom for a little while and I absolutely loved that job too. I would literally take shifts here and there just to get a “break” from being a stay at mom, it’s A LOT of work. So I really appreciate Tom for this one. My heroes are my public safety family and every person who works hard to be the best at whatever they are. I love the man who fixed my AC when it was 105 and my kids were young, the plumbers and construction and I don’t want to keep listing because I’ll forget people. So thank you to all who work their asses off to make someone else’s life better and work your skills to make a better world for all of us. God bless 💗🙏🏼🇺🇸

    @@JohnThomas-ut3go That doesn't even make sense, the OP said you can't lump everyone in the same category because of a few bad apples, and you reply you can if they are protected. Lets qualify that; So if lets say Judges, are protected by the system and 'hypothetically' 99.9% are good, but that 0.1% are bad, that means they are all bad ? ofc not, that just means 0.1% are bad, protected or not. Use logic, it helps.

  • @JohnThomas-ut3go

    @JohnThomas-ut3go

    @@survivalrush He used the bad apple metaphor. Like it or not that metaphor has a meaning. If a friend of yours murders someone and you were not involved in the murder but helped them hide the body and protect them from arrest you can be charged with a crime, several crimes in fact. Cops don't. If you are a "good" cop but you help a bad cop cover up or justify killing someone who was in custody, unarmed, no threat, violations of peoples rights, assaults, or any of the other actions attributed to "bad" cops its no different than the civilian friend helping to hide the body. Your not a good cop in that the public can trust you, in that you do your job to the best of your ability. Your a good cop in the way that the bad cops can trust you to help them hide the bodies. That is how the 1 bad apple metaphor applies. The system protects bad apples. That makes the entire system corrupted. You can no longer just remove the bad apples. The system has no mechanism to keep bad apples out or to identify them and remove them. There's reports on the training they get to that shows the rot actually starts with the training and continues with further training. I you want bad apples out and to save what apples you can then the whole system top to bottom needs to be reset. In doing that you will lose most the police force that has been indoctrinated for years that you protect one another. You seem to wanted to make rot and protection incompatible descriptors but the protection is part of the rot.

The rot seeps into the wood of the barrell. You can take out all the apples, wash the barrell and if you put more apples into the barrell they will quickly rot. You must replace the barrell if you want to store apples again.

    Madera county in California. The sherif doesn't follow some of the laws because he doesn't agree with them. Like a home owner in the hills defending their home with a gun. Some cops are good.

    Hey Don. Good to see you back again. I wish you the best with your latest challenge. I come to this as a 35 year veteran of police work. I have worked with so many good guys & girls who only wanted to do what's right. I've seen the "other side" with bad cops also. Nothing gives a police officer more satisfaction, well maybe other than saving a child's life, than being the one to place the handcuffs on crooked cops. I was able to do it a few times and was in on the arrest of others. I grew up dreaming of being a cop, watching the old "Adam 12," and "Dragnet" shows. They are way before ya'lls time, no worries. I went into the job thinking everybody respected the police and I sought to be the best cop I could. I also had to stand at the casket of 6 friends at different times and fold the American Flag that draped their coffins. Between those days and seeing the worst of the worst, the job brought a price tag with it--as every job does. Now, let me say I in no way look at myself as a "hero." It was a job, a profession that I chose and I wouldn't go back and change anything other than maybe the 25+ surgeries I endured due to the job of riding a motorcycle, working street level narcotics and working high level cartels bringing thousands of kilos of cocaine into the Country. Those cases took the longest but I thought I was putting a littler dent into helping society as we would seize 6,000-8,000 kilos of cocaine and money into the $25,000,000+ range. NO, we the agents, didn't keep any, we turned it into the government. Sorry for the length of this. I look at the garbage man, the waitress, the construction worker, even the firefighter as heroes as those are jobs I would not want to do. Put me in front of drug dealers with $1,000,000 on the table & I would rather deal with that than people bitching at their waiter/waitress because their bread was overcooked. Real 3rd world problems there. But I thank Mr. MacDonald for putting this out there and you two for bringing it to light. Again Don, I apologize for the way you were treated, as well as the way others have been mistreated. There is no excuse for that. Everyday workers deserve credit for all they do but I think it's a little different to go to work everyday with a bulletproof vest & gun on, wondering if they will make it back home. I love your reactions and sorry for my rambling. I just wish more people could see people for who they are, simply people.

    I ❤ your Don's reaction 2 this, it was great. I absolutely 💓 that Tom's recognizing & giving everyday people the 💐 they rightfully deserve. I think it's sad & 💔 that they aren't recognized or appreciated 4 what they do. People tend 2 4get that we wouldn't even have the things we have now w/o them so I think it's admirable that he's showing them some ❤. When they shut everything down cuz of covid I made a sign that I took everywhere with me that thanked EVERYONE 4 what they do.

During the covid I was still able to get my groceries THANKS ❤️👍👍👍 to all of y'all that were still brave enough to work in the stores and keep the shelves stocked up with what you could get.!! If y'all hadn't kept working the grocery stores and others would have been closed down . I wouldn't have been able to get any food or anything else that I needed. I usually try to go through the day trying to put smiles on people's face, and most of the time I succeed.(Like holding the door for someone and when they say thank you I said no problem it's my new job at the doorman.) we should acknowledge people both the good and the bad. If someone is doing something good we should thank them for it just as if somebody is doing something bad we should hold them accountable. What are the most important parts on the human body is the ears, we need to be able to listen ambient empathetic when I need arises

    Enforcers of any kind, this includes ever day people (we are all potential agents because the collective determines what is and is not acceptable). However, this piece is about appreciating what upholds the imperfect system we have that we also have the ability to change. Let's not forget that. We are in it together. By the way, Don, females can and do do the tasks you mentioned. That is not to say males are not needed. We accomplish more when we work together, but more may not be better because "better" is subjective.

    Make this make sense...I just lost my dad...an Air Force Vet...and yet my sister may lose the house...why we got athletes making millions while our military makes thousands?? My mom as as a military wife did her best and went to bed hungry to provide for her kids and my dad sacrificed to provide for his family...make it make sense...we will be spreading my dad's ashes next weekend on my mom's bday as he wanted...now I will step up to make sure my family doesn't lose the house...even if I go without...I'm not a hero...just emulating my mom and dad

    Condolences. Sad to hear that you lost your Dad. My father retired from the Nat. Guard after 2 tours of Iraq. He saw alot of bad shit, some of which I've seen on video. It's life-changing trauma what those men and women go through to protect our country.. they deserve alot more than they get when they get back home. Our government needs to do better for our vets. Good luck to you man, I hope everything works out for you. Respect to your fam. o7

    I grew up in the 60's and high school teachers back then would hit students with wooden paddles and grab them and push them up against the chalkboard and threaten them! I experienced the paddle and the wooden ruler across my knuckles. There was some very good teachers of course and I am saying all of this because in every profession there are people that can't handle power.

    I'll point out he specifically said "Thank you to the cops who really tryna make the world a better place Riskin' they lives to keep a man they never even met safe They ain't tryna kill your kids or lock their father away They got families who need food on they plates" He's not chanting back the blue he is appluading those who are "the good ones" yall got stuck on something he wasnt saying simply on the word cop. I get it theres been a ton public discussion and not to mention personal experiences with the negative end (had a few myself) just know a few truly good hearted people (mostly retired) who are/were policemen.

    I have done some sh#t in my wild days, arrested 3 times and I have NEVER had any experience of brutality from the police. If you treat them with respect, I think you get it back. Neither of my arrests were felony's, 2 were when I was under 17 - one for pot, the other for assault with a deadly weapon...Thank God my parents gave me a solid foundation to fall back on.
