The Boy with Tape on his Face speaks from the Edinburgh Fringe festival. Sam Wills, better known as the cult New Zealand mime artist who's taken the 2012 Edinburgh fringe by storm, talks about how he made the transition from struggling street artist to sell-out shows -- and reveals why he quite fancies taking on London's West End

Can't stop staring at his lip piercing when he talks
The first time I saw him I immediately though Chaplin, Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, Harold Lloyd, etc etc. So good!
On stage he acts and behaves like a child..
That's why it usually has tape over it. ;) haha!
I'm going to see him at the west-end! :D:D
Seen him at the West End.. he should change his show soon though - needs some more funny stuff which is different to his old stuff!
My favourite artist from NZ, clever bastard
Umm... He probably does take it out- the glue on the tape he uses is strong enough to hold on his face even if he is sweating and moves his facial muscles. So ripping that tape off could be painful for a person with piercings. He can take the stud out even for a day, if he had it for a long time. And if he is afraid of germs or whatever, he can cover the hole with a band-aid before applying the tape.
Actually I doubt that he takes the piercing out. Firstly because one rarely want glue in an open wound. Secondly because piercings have a tendency to grow really fast, så if the show lasts for too long, he'll have to stick a needle through his lip again. And the tape is not strong enough to rip flesh apart. It hardly makes any difference.
Imagine if he once forgot to take out his lip peircing and ripped the tape off and it pulled it out
you've obviously never had a piercing.
