Most important stat is that if your team has Sergei Bobrovsky and your first round opponent has set records you will probably win.
Cheering for this team has been nothing but agony.
I'm really curious about the stat of cup winners who were Presidents' Trophy winners the year prior compared to that year's Presidents' Trophy winner I know people were saying that when the Avs went out after they won the Presidents' Trophy and I mean, they did do quite well the following year. What was said at the end also kind of backs this point up
President Trophy winners are usually the measuring stick of the team to beat, their overall style is applied to combat 31 other teams in general. The success of this style of game rarely meets any challenges cause it provides winning streaks, so why change. However if a team that is just getting by has to tailor their game base on the team they are playing. Which creates more scouting of how to play to your game against a team with outstanding record, what work and what didn't. I believe the Panthers that had success against the Bruins in the regular season reviewed the tapes to get the possible outcome. Many President Trophies often are health and face teams that need call ups or make shift line and goalies. But in the playoffs even the injured players play and teams will stick to their hottest or top goalie. To win the Stanley Cup you need win 58% your games cause it mainly one on one, no 3 on 3 and no shootouts.
