The bodyweight Squat is the a position that has been lost by most of western society. the bad thing about losing it is it starts to destroy your body. The bodyweight squat can help improve your ankle mobility, knee health, hip function, and spine position. Squat mobility is extremely important in having the full function of your body. Improving squat mobility can be worked on daily with the exercises shown in this video combined with other mobility tools found in my free program The Daily Practice.

Thanks SS, good squatting has eluded me for decades (I’m 51). Been a follower of movnat, starrett, and ido portal for many years but the squat wouldn’t improve. Had severe arthritis in right hip but just got it replaced. Now have to unwind the stiffness. Heel raises is the only way I can work on it. Finding the right height is always a search, base of a tree stump, sand at the beach, all good ways I use to modify and find the right level. I notice that while your squats are very good, you actually have a better spine alignment with a bit of a heel lift. Your pelvis tucks under just a tad when you are on flat ground. I have this problem but way worse. I noticed your female friend in another video had NO issues with this, perfect squat. This is a very tough point to see and understand, perhaps a great video would be focused on that? I am not sure what level mobility is realistic to expect when one is older and has several structural issues but the movement path is correct and one should be gentle and patient is all I have learned so far.

The cat, seated with a straight leg raised vertically and head buried in his genitals - that's a next level of flexibility. I appreciate your work. -it's helping me recover my flexibility after a disc bulge in my lumbar spine. Developing a deep squat seems to help stretch to the lower back.

The therapists question is the reason why government controlled health care should be abolished. It's their way or the highway, they only learn what professors teach them which is also controlled by government. There will never be any government funded studies for anything like this, fasting, diet etc..

I currently can squat with heels elevated; nothing under them, just on the top half of my foot. I can do a flat footed squat by holding onto something. My question is, which will be more effective in leading me to doing a flat footed squat; continuing to do them holding onto something until I can let go and stay there, or holding the squat as I can without assistance and hopefully my feet will eventually be flat? Thank you!

It’s a resting position, if you feel comfortable in it you can do it as much as you want, in that case the more the better since it’s a rest. But if you’re not in that stage yet probably try doing it 5-15 minutes a day (with breaks as needed)
