The bodyweight Squat is the a position that has been lost by most of western society. the bad thing about losing it is it starts to destroy your body. The bodyweight squat can help improve your ankle mobility, knee health, hip function, and spine position. Squat mobility is extremely important in having the full function of your body. Improving squat mobility can be worked on daily with the exercises shown in this video combined with other mobility tools found in my free program The Daily Practice.

76 years old and gotta admit it was hard getting down there the first time..had to use support, but with each successive try I got better and better and can now do a full squat with little effort! All in the first day! Thanks for the info ....

Great job
Love your chilled delivery, no heavy music, all of which enables me to focus on the visual and audio element. And having your feline friend made the video real, my dog would have done the same
What's refreshing about your videos is there are no endless racks of weights, anatomy charts & mirrors around. The instructions definitely compliments that vibe & quality. (comparing to some of ur earlier work)
My squat has improved so much since doing The Daily Practice. Thank you so much!

Great video, brotha! Love how you encourage people to move around in the squat position to create more space in the hips and figure out what works best for them.

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU! I was able to squat all the way down in the past but... due to some injuries and sitting all day at the desk I lost it. I started with the plates under my heels and now I can squat all the way down like I used to. Keep it up with these awesome videos! Wish you all the best!

Excellent. I can follow. Thank you for showing variations.
Thank you so much for this video . You are really helping me achieve my squat mobility .
New to this. Totally love your chilled relaxed uber easy going approach. Great vibe. Great cat. Thank you Man.
I sit in the squat while pushing knees out + rocking back and forward for ankle mobility at the beginning and end of each workout. Really helps
25 years ago I got crushed in my left knee by a massive attack of gout. Squatting like that is agony now, with my knee as damaged as it is. You make it look easy, like when children do it
Excellent explaination. You are a genuine person.
Love your stuff mate. Top class.

Thanks SS, good squatting has eluded me for decades (I’m 51). Been a follower of movnat, starrett, and ido portal for many years but the squat wouldn’t improve. Had severe arthritis in right hip but just got it replaced. Now have to unwind the stiffness. Heel raises is the only way I can work on it. Finding the right height is always a search, base of a tree stump, sand at the beach, all good ways I use to modify and find the right level. I notice that while your squats are very good, you actually have a better spine alignment with a bit of a heel lift. Your pelvis tucks under just a tad when you are on flat ground. I have this problem but way worse. I noticed your female friend in another video had NO issues with this, perfect squat. This is a very tough point to see and understand, perhaps a great video would be focused on that? I am not sure what level mobility is realistic to expect when one is older and has several structural issues but the movement path is correct and one should be gentle and patient is all I have learned so far.
This showed me how tight my lower back is.
I like to turn/twist side to side while in a squat, going up on my toes on the side I'm turning away from and keeping my knees separated with my elbows. That's a beautiful location you're at.
The cat, seated with a straight leg raised vertically and head buried in his genitals - that's a next level of flexibility. I appreciate your work. -it's helping me recover my flexibility after a disc bulge in my lumbar spine. Developing a deep squat seems to help stretch to the lower back.
1:39 and boom Chopper the cat does a perfect squat ! 🐈
I so desperately want to be able to squat this way but am nowhere even slightly close. My physical therapist (helping me rehab an ankle injury) asked me why was I so pressed to be able to sit this way. I was stunned by the question and could barely muster a reply.

The therapists question is the reason why government controlled health care should be abolished. It's their way or the highway, they only learn what professors teach them which is also controlled by government. There will never be any government funded studies for anything like this, fasting, diet etc..
I think this is the most important position/movement a person should do and be able to do for health.
It's sooo relaxing it helps feel sleepy at night and go to sleep plus less knee pain from athritis.
Love your channel ....I always say to myself that I will do it from tomorrow but tomorrow never comes ...
You are a nice guy.. Thank you for everything
Thanks much... in advance!
👍👍 one for you and one for Chopper! Sweet distraction!
The first squat was kinda rough for me. But I'll keep practicing
If I do this will I be able to do what Chopper is doing at 3:17 in the video? I’ll practice every day 😁.

I was in a bicycle accident and fractured my hip and both arms. I am using your videos that I just discovered today to increase flexibility in my hips and to strengthen the muscles in my legs which have atrophied. The star of this video is the cat.
Gracias Mil
I'd be worried I couldn't get back up again after being in the squat for more then 30 seconds. Plus Id have Christmas legs (that feeling when you have been kneeing to wrap presents and gives you pins and needles feelings) when I stand up and would fall back down again.
Loved the cat!

build the form first then everything else will follow, i like the idea when he said to keep the toes straight and spine straight but not forceful.
Awesome! Now let's see it with a bound twist (the yoga pose: parivrtta malasana). The twist makes it more intense, but twists in general are excellent for conditioning the core as well as cleansing the internal organs. Oh, and the cat is fabulous! Mine did the same ... always during yoga. Namaste

I am being able to squat deeper, touching hamstring to calves a bit, the problem I am having is hunched back. As I approach the lower position of the squat, my back starts to get rounded, even if I force a straight back.
I can't even hold it flat footed. On my tip toes I can hold it but have to hold on to something. Also is this safe to do with tears in both of my meniscuses?
Your best video - might be the kitty lol Seriously though, I love all your stuff, including the mental and spiritual
I currently can squat with heels elevated; nothing under them, just on the top half of my foot. I can do a flat footed squat by holding onto something. My question is, which will be more effective in leading me to doing a flat footed squat; continuing to do them holding onto something until I can let go and stay there, or holding the squat as I can without assistance and hopefully my feet will eventually be flat? Thank you!
It feels weird that what i've been doing normally all my life sounds like impossible for other people. That is my pooing position always.

You don’t have a toilet ?
Love the cat😻
Well... you both kinda had your own version of knees out there, haven't you? Not sure which one to use now :)
I am being assisted by my sink, but I use so much power to assist myself from falling over that It becomes a workout for my shoulders, should I keep doing it until it becomes easier? Or should I do something else?
Will the sitting (or deep) squat help my exercise back squat. I lack hip mobility while squatting.
That cat was so adorable.
Flexibility wise this is no problem but it makes my shins burn like crazy because I’m using those muscles to balance. Is that normal or is it indicative of me doing this wrong? Thanks man
Your back is quite straight. I can squat the same depth but my spine is a little curved. Will it be improved overtime when I keep doing this?
A cat is the most under-looked work out accessory.
How long do you recommend holding the squat? How often do you recommend the hold? Daily? Every other day? Thanks!!!
@stebbey6006

It’s a resting position, if you feel comfortable in it you can do it as much as you want, in that case the more the better since it’s a rest. But if you’re not in that stage yet probably try doing it 5-15 minutes a day (with breaks as needed)
Hi there. I want to sign up for your courses. But as a beginner I have few questions to ask before I can join. So I know I'm signing up for the right course. I couldn't find a contact option on the website. So wanted to know what's the best way to get in touch with you.
I’m about to start practicing , but cannot fathom how people do this without falling over backwards. Not sure if it’s just my tight hamstrings but really feels like my hips don’t sit in the socket correctly.
Nice styl
How long should you hold the squat position?
My shins hurt when I'm in that position what am I doing wrong?
whats the name of the chill music pls?
Lovin the cat
Can you teach me what the cat is doing at 3:27?😁
I can’t do this. I fall over. I dont think my calves or ankles are letting me? Probably my calves. I need stepping stones.

The Cat,.. the CAT...
"the bodyweight squat" aka "how people went to the toilet before toilet seats were invented."
First, the cat is adorable. Second, I can’t even do a basic squat position as you start out in because I have to lean so far forward to get that low. What is wrong with me?!?
Guys. If you enjoy doing the squat then look up Tom Platz and his teaching methods on youtube. Just do it.
😆💪👍☝
Need more elevation?? Take your's gf high heel shoes!!
This video could also be used how engorging a women attracts her , if you chase a cat it will never come to you , by just ignoring it it wants all your attention. Also another great video I have added the squat to my morning routine 👍🏻👍🏻
Became russian gopnik after 3 times, would not recommend

Your cute cat was disractive . Seems wanted your attention..
Nice video, but I didn't really want to see your cat licking itself.
Pets are never good in a professional video. While you may like them and perhaps they provide comfort for you...it is a presence feel and not one that you want to watch again and again on a video. Leave the pet inside and o the video. People learning from you.
