"Dig Your Hips" from the new album, Bellevue. Order now at thebobbylees.lnk.to/bellevue
Video Directed by John Swab
Proudly outspoken and riotously loud, The Bobby Lees are Ipecac Recordings' newest signing.
Following on from the success of the Hollywood Junkyard EP and their Summer tour dates, the band announce their brand new full-length album, Bellevue, thirteen tracks of uninhibited rock and roll arriving on 7th October.
The album is available in three vinyl variants, including black, white, and a limited edition Coke Bottle clear. There will also be a limited edition white cassette, a CD digipak and a digital release.
Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, Henry Rollins…these are just a few of the punk icons who have shown support for Woodstock, NY based band The Bobby Lees. Sam Quartin [vocals, guitar], Macky Bowman [drums], Nick Casa [guitar], and Kendall Wind [bass] - make music that is punk in spirit and soul; unfettered and resolutely honest. To say their sound is wild and untethered is an understatement. It's the kind of aural exorcism any listener can tap into, something that struck a chord with Henry Rollins who brought them to Ipecac Recordings where Mike Patton and Greg Werckman signed them.
The Bobby Lees are:
Macky Bowman (drums)
Nick Casa (guitar)
Sam Quartin (vocals/guitar)
Kendall Wind (bass)
The Bobby Lees initially made waves with full length albums Beauty Pageant [2018] and Skin Suit [2020]-which was produced by Jon Spencer. They then decamped to Sputnik Sound in Nashville to record Bellevue, their debut Ipecac album - live in the studio - with producer Vance Powell [Jack White, Chris Stapleton, The Raconteurs]. “Vance is incredible and we feel very lucky we got to do this record with him,” Sam continues. “Usually when I write the songs, they’re pretty simple. Kendall helps make them more exciting, and the whole band adds their own parts to make it a fully flushed out thing. Vance helped transform some of the tracks into something we never could have done on our own.”
With their intelligent and thoughtful song writing, The Bobby Lees follow their instincts as musicians and friends, working together to create the songs that would eventually form Bellevue. The sound is gritty, minimalist and visceral, each song is an ode to the misfits. “We wrote it while all of this crazy (pandemic) stuff was going on and I think it helped make us more open and vulnerable. We’re taking risks and doing weirder things musically than we have in the past."
Tracks like “Hollywood Junkyard” and “Dig Your Hips”, which were teased on the Hollywood Junkyard EP this past Summer, illuminate the reckless and raw spirit of the album, while the single “Strange Days” shows another side of the group altogether.
As feverish and nihilistic as the music can at times seem, there’s always a glimmer of hope at the core of each song. “I named the album Bellevue because when I listen back, I hear someone going through that stuff, who is now able to laugh about it and have fun re-telling the stories,” says Sam. “It’s a reminder for me that the most painful and intense things I go through end up being the most rewarding creatively.”

I thought music was dead until I heard The Bobby Lees, Amyl and the Sniffers and the Viagra Boys. Thank you for restoring my faith in music!!!

Jason mamoa adopted them so there’s hope
Came here from the Bad Friends interview to check the group out and this GOES for real.
FUCKING YESSS!!! You guys make me feel...at least 30 again!! I love it. Gonna put this on regular rotation on KSKQ FM radio here in s.OR!!!
Just watched them at Pappy and Harriets, and they are incredible live, and Jason Momoa showed up and gave them love.
I've fallen so hard for this band recently. Christ they're good. This song reminds me of Concrete Blonde - Still In Hollywood.
Im just blown away .... You completely rock and its so nice to feel the punk vibe again after years of it missing!!
These days, all the “indie” bands are either doing the White Stripes garage rock sound or the Joy Division post-punk sound. And in each of those categories, the singers emulate either the Jack White or Ian Curtis vocals. There are really great and unique bands out there, you just have to look. The Bobby Lees are at the top of my list for incredible original bands. Plus they’re on Ipecac, so you know they’re doing something right. Amazing voice, killer knack for melody and catchy hooks, and a natural skill writing and playing straight up punk. Definitely in my top 10 bands of the last 15 years.
God damn! They are fucking awesome. It feels like they channeled Violent Femmes into a more angsty and energetic format. I absolutely love it.
F*** I love this band!
Seriously one of my favorite songs in almost 50 years of listening to music & 40 years of being a musician. Never get tired of it.

There’s so much good music coming out these days
Well this is a refreshing change of pace to most of what's being released currently. Raw, sleazy rock music with attitude. Brav fucking O.
She sounds like Johnette Napolitano. That’s a good thing.
I love the ode to rock lobster in that riff
I like this band already. They are fresh , energetic and know how to jam. They should get more views

Yeah when they went to the quiet part I think it shows a band with a healthy grasp of dynamics you don't witness very often.
