the reveal that this was Bobby Hill in the episode was probably the hardest ive laughed in months. like i had to stop the video because my chest was hurting so much. it was the perfect build up too. everyone losing their shit trying to figure it out, jacob yelling out guesses, nathan screaming "SAME FACE," while Karina was just losing her mind. god. this is probably the best encapsulation of the feeling of watching it.
I just love the moment when Nathan realizes who it is; just the way he says "no, Julia" is iconic
Jacob’s genuine distress at the reveal is so perfect
The moment of Nathan's realization was so perfect. Yet another masterpiece.
Nathan’s crying laughter turning into abject terror is SO good
Nathan slowly going insane until he gets the answer is PEAK ANIMATION. Well done sir
Nathan’s “EEEAE” at 1:17 is so elevated by the context you provided, giving Julia the face and having Nathan react, you really elevate the content, keep up the good work it’s hilarious.
@jonothanthrace1530
6 ай бұрын
Julia can absolutely do that face for real.
This is episode was the best because we basically saw 4 people go through the whole gamut of human emotion over a singular face lol
The jump cut from the intro to the absolute chaos of Julia's drawing is editing perfection, and proof once again that it's the way you elevate these moments that makes you such a fantastic creator.
@DeepBlueInk

aaaa thanks Buck!
God I *love* the subtlety of the gags in the animation when Nathan starts noticing weird things. Julia’s face changing to Bobby’s, and then being able to *tell* she’s asking, “What?” with a confused expression when Nathan points at her. The eyes on Bobby moving to stare at Nathan, and then the stare down between him and the drawing before he realised the truth. This matches the unhinged energy of the original episode so well!
As if this clip wasn't funny enough on its own, changing the context to make Nathan seem terrified when Julia's face morphs into the drawing is SO good 😭 You always outdo yourself, it's incredible
I'm not sure if I can handle this emotionally. The original already did so much psychic damage. And yet I must watch...
Nathan protagonist energy is so good
There are many fantastic things about this, but one thing I haven’t seen anyone mention is Julia’s hilarious look of pride and excitement while she’s waiting for them to guess, like a child who just pulled off a magic trick.
I had to rewatch 1:17 multiple times to reassure myself that I didn't imagine Nathan getting scared at Stale Julia and then at "Bobby's" eyes moving

Beautiful. I love the idea that part of why they're gasping for air as they laugh desperately is bc the fire is taking all the oxygen in the room :3
I like how she draws this same face for almost everyone, but in Bobby's case, shrinks the face and yet shortens his head to negate any change.
I love that Julia is a fantastic artist and yet she struggles so much with these. It's encouraging as a fellow creative. I love everything about this animation, especially everything being on fire.
The shadows on the drawing when Jacob and Karina approach in outrage are perfect. You're getting better all the time.

This is a full-blown masterpiece- I remember watching the original episode the day it came out and loosing my mind, laughing at the dumpster fire that this challenge was-- and you represented it s o w e l l. Nathan in particular had me dying, with all of his reactions to the face being everywhere, almost trying to convince him that he's going crazy-- right down to the moment of realization. This is great.
Incredible dramatic zoom in on Nathan's face there as he came to the horrified realisation of the truth. It highlights something I really enjoy about these animations; they often emphasise moments that can sometimes get lost in the cross talk, and it gives it a really satisfying dramatic tension that can be hard to get with unscripted shows like drawfee

Why was that 1 second of eye movement so goddamn eerie??? Lol. Nathan’s reaction really sells it. 😂
Making the Bobby drawing talk is incredible. It was the gut punch I didn't know we needed.
I'm always amazed how you manage to animate so much physical action, context and visual storytelling from just incomprehensible noises of enjoyment and desperation for 15 seconds straight.
This really does bring out the sheer, raw *ANGER* in Jacob’s voice once they all realize who this is…
I'm back to say SUDDENLY IT ALL MAKES SENSE!! I hope your newly hatched Eggbear managed to find some Cheesy Steves!

When I first watched this episode, I couldn’t breathe for a solid 5 minutes as I lost my mind with the Drawfee crew, and watching Blue render that in the flaming studio is a gift and the fact the face is haunting Nathan and his laugh is translated as fear noises is so good because when he finally nails it, it feels like a divine inspiration as relief from his insanity 😂 I just, I lost it all over again, what a pay off

The tiny comedic details take this to a whole new level. I've watched it well over a dozen times and each time I find something new. This time it was how Bobby looks down at Nathan at 1:21. DBI, you are an incredible artist and do amazing visual comedy work. You truly 'plus' already funny moments.
