Yeah, I'm sure if I bought it I could change it up with the pegs and modify it to work better, but for the price bmw charges, I'd think it should be a little better thought out from the factory.

I hear so many gripes about the Cylinder heads sticking out. People THATS WHAT MAKES THIS BIKE SPECIAL! Had BMW used a V-Twin well then you all would be saying its just a Harley wannabe. Well i can tell you now owning the R18B Its NOT A Harley. Harely riders double take every time one rides by. The Bike is an AMAZING MACHINE!

I own a 2022 r18 and the shifter is actually incredibly easy to adjust position to suite your liking for foot position. Takes less then 2 mins to do with the supplied tools that come with the bike. I had the same issue on test ride and the sales guy fixed it to my liking and it's been great since.

EXCELLENT! Good to know. You'd think with all the demo rides that week they would've done that! Good to know it's a minor thing that can be easily fixed!

@@mauricioalvasan the heel toe shifter IS is not as intuitive as a one on most Harleys in Indians that is a fact. . I just got off a 22 r18 b test ride with the floorboard and it was definitely a struggle initially after about an hour it did get a little easier but it is definitely tricky I had to position my feet in a weird cock eyed way and I ride a Harley ultra so I know about heel toe shifting

I own a r18b and at first I thought that heel shifter is the first thing that comes off. Then after riding it for a day or 2 it works really well so I left it on lol. Shifting isn't a problem at all on this bike

Nice video 👍 I noticed the heel shifter was high for your foot. Next time try adjusting the heel shifter. I just bought a 2023 R 18 B and was having the same issue when I went for a test ride. I had the dealer adjust the heel shifter and it was fine after that.

I love the horizontally opposed cylinders. It provides great character to an engine. My 2018 DCT GW was a great bike. Heavy as crap, but balanced. The BMW TC also is heavy, but the pull of opposing cylinders has more torque and pulls side to side much stronger than the GW. I ride my 2023 GSA, and my little 1250 engine pulls and rides great. Having half the weight of a GW and a TC, it better!

I own the same bike, negatives are: 1-Navigation sucks, I use a mounted Garmin 2-Mirrors are too small 3-blinkers won't stay on through the whole turn, constantly having to turn them on again and again 2-3 times each turn.

I've owned my 2022 R18 TC for several months now and, while I 100% agree on the shifter peg positioning, you DO get used to it. It becomes muscle memory after a while, but I can see that it would be a complaint during a demo ride. Also, I never go under the shifter pegs, I always use the soles of my boots on the shifter pegs and I've never had an issue with contorting my toe and heel to shift up and down when doing so, even when I was getting used to it. I'm a size 13 mens BTW. As for engine positioning, it's a traditional BMW boxer engine, you either love it or hate it. As for me, I've been riding beemers for decades now, so I'm well-accustomed to the natural riding position. However, there are highway pegs available that allow riders to stretch their legs out like a traditional Harley. Another note: Because this bike has reinforced footboards, it can take the riders full weight, meaning that you can stand up on the bike while riding, so if you need to stretch during a...stretch of road, just stand up and shake off the road rust for a moment. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. Plus, there's an R18 online forum at (www) r18forums (dot) com that we all post at.

Hi good vid.. I’m an owner of one and it’s the best bike I’ve had the pleasure of owning been on a few tours know, I’ve come from the sports tourer side have test ride. Harley’s witch are awesome as well. But R18 Transcontinental lord me in when I was at my dealership. I’ve had no issues with the gear or rear brake position they are adjustable if needed, I was concerned when I first received her about that alongs coming of a bike with a quick shifter. But quickly got used to it and know it’s natural also I prefer the 90% position for control of the bike and have had no issues with her on long rides or in twists in mountain 🏔️ passes. Obviously I’m going to be a little biased but a do feel the Transcontinental is a over looked gem 💎 especially a equivalent Harly is around 10 Grand more. And for a bike BMW have clearly put the soul into and nothing cut and even heritage for a modem bike there is little in her way. Also as an owner I get a lot of bikers across the spectrum always asking or looking at her. Maybe I should keep it a secret.

Good to know they are adjustable! Does that mean they are adjustable as they are, or new ones can be put on? I love hearing from bike owners because you guys have much better perspectives than I do when I get a very short time with the bike.

@@MOTOBLADE mainly adjustable. But I think I’ve see 3rd party ones that may be more forgiving for big feet. But like anything market responds to demand. I feel since we are a small ownership community some accessories may be slow thru the pipeline. Pros and cons

I've had many touring Harleys and am a HD fan. Having said that, I prefer my TC. Agree with you--I prefer forward controls, but you get used to them and you can adjust them. I did add the leg rests over the cylinders which gives you highway comfort. Overall fit and finish is superb and the infotainment is the best I've ever had. Cornering is surprisingly agile due to the low center of gravity. Reverse gear comes in handy for a 900#+ bike. Luggage capacity is smaller than a similar HD and not detachable. Power equal to a stock Harley 114. Much better bang for the buck. CVO equivalent for a stock HD price or even less.

Great video. I have the Bagger and love it. I have the heel/toe shifter, which is great; they can and need to adjust the one you rode. With all the features, power, and ride, it's like the Rolls Royce of the motorcycle world. And it doesn't cook your junk like a Harley.

I purchased that same bike. I loved the looks and it handled and ran fine but that shifting position as you pointed out is pure crap. If you ride with boots good luck shifting it. Also for some reason I could never get in a comfortable riding position. I dont blame the bike for this but because of it I traded it in on another bike.

Nice bike, not practical for commuting or long rides. If you are tall, good luck being comfortable after a nice, long ride. Also, value wise, by the time you take this bike home loaded, you might as well get a new Goldwing Tour. You can't even compare and I don't work for Honda. Just a regular rider for 35 years now.

BMW only need to add two doors, two more wheels, and a roof and it will sell by the bucket-load to none-motorcyclists....Too much technology, too many gadgets, not enough cornering ability, too many electronics, too expensive. Yep, it's a BMW for sure....
