Glad to see that Russia pretty much called NATO on their bluff. Russia is well within it's rights to start shelling NATO targets, NATO is NOT a neutral party in this war. By supplying weapons and volunteers, NATO has become an active participant in combat. Russia has been lenient with their shenanigans with the weapons, "volunteers", and "observers", but boots on the ground IS a declaration of open war.

they don't even need the subs. London is less than 6 minutes from Russian launch sites, and they are only detected (using a Patriot system) 20 seconds before impact. If they wanted, Russia could launch a pre-emptive strike on the UK which would not have time to launch counter attacks, let alone intercepts. Lights out. . The Russians are way ahead of the game.

Lets look at the facts here. Ukraines troop numbers are low, despite what zelensky says. If hes claiming 31,000 losses, then he is omitting at least 500,000 losses. NATO underestimated Russias military might. Theres no doubt about that. The US believed their intelligence services, who were claiming that despite far larger troop numbers, Russias military hardware was aged, unusable and inferior, meaning a ground war would lead to victory for Ukraine. Again, they were wrong. Russia is developing new weapons, new hardware and new battlefield tech at a far higher rate than all of NATO combined. Likewise their munitions production, which far outstrips NATOs combined efforts. Now. If any NATO country puts boots on the ground in Ukraine, the entry points will be very likely along the Polish border. If any NATO force steps foot in Ukraine with the intention of fighting, I think Russia will consider Poland a legitimate target and use small, low yield tactical/battlefield nukes and flatten every entry point. Likewise if NATO launches air sorties from Poland, Germany, France, Sweden or the Netherlands, or any NATO country, then he will likely do exactly the same thing and just hit every airfield with small yield nukes. The damage would be devestating as such strikes would render them unusable and far beyond repair or reconstruction. Russias strikes will be limited, and strategic, regardless of what country they hit. It would be up to NATO to retaliate or up the ante and escalate the war at that point.....but they wont. They know all too well that Russia has more nuclear warheads than the US, UK and Europe (NATO) combined, and they know that any nuclear escalation outside of strategic strikes would take us into a wider theatre of war, a nuclear one at that. That is a war that nobody can win, but one in which Europe and the US would fare worse in. The US wont go that far because their would be nothing to win. Nothing to gain. They will back down, although reluctantly, falling back to a war of words and idle threats. The US and NATO weapons and hardware supplies are low, almost depleted. They are akin to a near toothless Wolf trying to stand up against a Great Bear with a full set of teeth. And I write this as a UK born resident who is ashamed to say Im governed by a bunch of lilly livered, ass kissing, warmongering arseholes. This war could have been ended in 2022 but the US and UK told zelensky to walk away from negotiations, despite a largely agreed upon settlement at that time being on the table. Every life lost in battle, or on the peripherals of this war, isnt down to ukraine or Russia. No. Every one of the hundreds of thousands of lives lost since then is down to every worthless scumbag of politician that pushed for this war to continue in the false hope that ukraine would win, knowing all too well it didnt have a chance. It never did. It never will.

@@steveb890 You're presenting a strawman argument - nobody said it would be over in 3 days. BTW - the US said that it had reduced Russia's fighting capability by 90% - what happened? The UK (over a year ago) said that Russia wouldn't be able to launch another large scale missile strike - what happened? Ukraine said it would be fishing in Crimea by last summer - what happened?

Bad things are brewing. NATO is chained to the goal of preventing a Russian victory in Ukraine and the rhetoric to support that is taking on a life of its own. The more progress Russian troops make, the more acceptable a military intervention seems within NATO. Now an attack on Moldova is already a red line for NATO. Moldova, which is not a NATO member and seems to be gearing up to "solve" the issue of Transnistria by military means.
