the patriot counters a different kid of threat and having the battery there means that russia can't use their cas aircraft and would have to rely on artillery and with the coming resupply of artillery ammunition to the Ukrainians, they can restart counter battery operations which would dramatically slow down russian advances because if they lack artillery support, Ukrainian defensive positions would remain somewhat intact it would also force Russians to disperse their artillery units more evenly as in areas where there is a lack of artillery units, cas can't take over it also gives Ukrainian aircraft somewhat free reign to perform cas, but considering they are being very strategic with their remaining aircraft, ukranian hasn't been doing that which while understandable hinders any defensive operations

Nah. The Ukrainian forces are decent quality, but they are too thinly stretched and the US waffled over aid for too long, leaving them in a pickle. Russia has more manpower and resources in the region. Ukraine has always been the underdog and Z is slowly turning the tide in a war of attrition.

It is absolutely amazing how history repeats. Napoleonic War, Finnish Winter War and Barbarossa, all involved huge losses, corruption and abysmal tactics and strategy in the early stages of the Russian effort, and then slowly turning it all around.
