This series collapse definitely had a very visible affect on the Yanks: Pre-collapse: -4 championships in 8 years -6 AL pennants in 8 years -39 AL Pennants all-time -26 World Championships -3-0 lead against Sox in ALCS -86 year Red Sox drought -At least 1 pennant every decade Post-collapse: -Blown 3-0 choke against Sox -1 championship -1 pennant -3 consecutive first-round exits (2005-2007) -No playoffs in 2008 (first time since 1993) -4 Red Sox championships in 15 years -16-1 spanking at Yankee Stadium, worst in playoff history, first round loss to Boston -2010s-over a billion dollars spent, 0 championships, 0 pennants +First time the Yankees hadn't made the World Series in a decade since the 1910s

Yup, it was the changing of the guard. Before the 04 collapse, there was such a thing as Yankee mystique. The notion that the Yanks could do no wrong, nothing really bad ever happened to them, and they were intimidating. Since the 04 collapse, Yankee mystique vanished and the Red Sox have been unquestionably the more successful franchise in the 21st century.

I’m a believer that everyone has a right to express their opinions however I also believe there’s a time and a place, I also don’t believe screaming about so called racism while at the same time being racist towards white people is a way to be taken seriously plus being a fully disabled combat veteran myself, I find kneeling during the national anthem DISGUSTING AND DISRESPECTFUL

This is the game that makes you wonder why the hell Curt Schilling is not in the HOF. It's not only this game of course, he was an ace for the D-Backs to get their first and only WS until now, he was the ace with Pedro Martinez to help break the Curse of the Bambino and he was the mentor for the next ace Josh Beckett and helped to win the 2007 WS. He retired on top. Honestly if an injury like the one he had, happened to a pitcher today I seriously doubt that pitcher would even throw a pitch, he would be from his house watching the games.

In my opinion this is where the Yankees choke the hardest in the series besides Game 4. They're at home, in front of the home crowd of 55,000 people, and they have Lieter on the mound who stifled the Red Sox in Game 2 at Yankee Stadium. They end up falling behind 4-0, but don't really put together a rally until the 8th, when they make it 4-2. Then comes the A-Rod bitch slap, which causes Jeter to score at first. But it's reversed, and that takes the wind out of the Yankees sails completely. They never recovered.

Curt should be in the HOF no questing and isn’t because of political reasons which is totally unfair. Idc about the man’s politics he was the best pitcher on the 93 Phillies helped them get to The WS. Arizona in 01 with Randy Johnson and with the Red Sox in 04 and 07. 3 championships and that playoff resume is incredible.

Yankees were done after this game. I won't even say the arod garbage killed them either. It was not cashing in on keith foulke running in fumes in the 9th.

Tony Clark twice had a chance in this series to be this ALCS Aaron Boones. In game 5, in the top of the 9th inning with two outs and a runner on first base, Clark hit a double that would have scored the runner, but the ball went into the stands and the runner could not score. Yankees did not score that inning and lost later. In this game 6, down by 2 runs, with two runners on, bottom ninth, two outs, and he made an out to end this game 6. Imagine if he hit a home run in that at-bat to win the AL pennant on a home run for the second consecutive season. Wow!!!

I was never a fan of McCarver, but he got the interference call right before the umpires did. And Bellhorn should be in the HoF--he still holds the career record for HRs per word uttered! (Yes, I'm kidding. But he was great for the Sox that year.)

This was possibly the greatest game in Red Sox history. Look at the classless yankee fans throwing baseballs on the field after the babies don' t get their way with the call made by the umpire from A-Rod's schoolgirl slap of the baseball from Arroyo's glove..

2 teams with the worst fan bases in baseball. It is not surprising they needed cops to intervene here. The yanks fans were getting pissed off because a couple of incorrect calls were overturned. The umps got BOTH the calls on the home run and A-Rod correct in the end!! Yet the Yanks fans get all butt hurt. Don't they have replays in the stadium? I bet there are some Yanks fans still whining about it to this day!!!
