hey, just wanted to give some context on the basketball players, but the indiana pacers (pronounced pace-ers) and the new york knicks have been rivals since the 90s and tyrese haliburton and jalen brunson are the youngest, biggest star players from both teams, and they happened to meet up in the second round of the NBA playoffs, where the indiana pacers beat the new york knicks in game 7 (the win-or-go-home game for both teams) so the wwe practically used haliburton as a heel and brunson as a face to get crowd reactions since the event took place in new york. hope this helps!

The Pacers beat the Knicks in this past playoffs in game 7(the finals game of that round) so MSG hated Tyrese. Jalen should have hit him with the chair lol

Tyrese is a part of a basketball team called the Pacers, Jalen is apart of a team called the Knicks. The Knick’s home stadium is MSG. The Pacers recently beat the Knicks in a basketball tournament that’s known as the playoffs. So Logan brought in Tyrese to fuck with the crowd. The reason why you saw/heard the censorship during that match is because the crowd was flipping them off and shouting “Fuck the Pacers.”

I loved the segment for Tyrese Haliburton and Jalen Brunson. Jfyi, Pacers (team Hali leads) and Knicks (team Jalen leads) had a really important playoff series which resulted in Pacers winning after almost Knicks (including Brunson) getting injured and Pacers advanced to the conference finals (basically semi-finals of the NBA). Next year, both teams will still have their current assets so they will probably be back in the playoffs, possibly facing each other again. Therefore there actually is a storyline. Also Tyrese Haliburton appeared a lot of times on backstage in WWE since he is a big time fan since childhood. Brunson is obviously the hometown hero as Knicks play in the MSG. Basically, seeing these two choosing sides and facing each other in the ring was crazy. And there you go TheGreatOne, now you know.

For those who don’t understand… Brunson plays for the New York Knicks - who play their games at Madison Square Garden. The other guy is Tyrese Halliburton - his team the Indiana Pacers ended the Knicks season by beating them in a tournament in that very same building about a month ago. Halliburton was the heel because he represents the bad guys to the New York locals. Jalen Brunson is the baby face because he’s who the locals love and cheer for. The sport is basketball.

In game 7 Haliburton and the Pacers defeated the injury riddles Knicks at MSG. MSG is the home court for the Knicks, and since smackdown was at MSG, it was a huge deal. Brunson vs Haliburton will be a great rivarly in the eastern confrence for years to come. That is the backstory of the Haliburton and Brunson and why knowing that backstory makes it even more of a bigger moment.
