Can someone explain to me why we celebrate the month of Tammuz. Wasn’t Tammuz considered a Sumerian god of shepherds?

We are celebrating the fourth month of the Hebraic calendar which is now known as Tammuz. We are not celebrating the false gods associated with the name.

@@KANTVUK why do we call it tammuz after the false god? Why not call it something different? We are not pantheist. Are we not suppose to place YHWH above all elohim?
