The Black Panther still in prison after 46 years

In 1971, two police officers were shot dead in Harlem. Nineteen-year-old Jalil Muntaqim of the Black Liberation Army was convicted and sent to prison. Nearly half a century later, he's still locked up - and he believes he's a victim of his involvement in the black liberation struggle

It's amazing how a civilian can get 46 years in prison for killing a cop but a cop can walk free for killing a black man

Yes sunni blac i did notice no mention of the black cop he murdered.and the intention if that is it shiws he was simply a violent murderer and strips him of his claim of being some kind of black freedom fighter fighting a war of justice for the black man.not to mention it would probably strip him of support from a % of the black community too.

Well in FL, he wouldn't have made Parole 25 years later. He would have been executed within 15 years for killing just one cop. It's a shitty situation and the cops probably deserved it, However when you kill a couple cops that's a hard situation to get out of especially when it was a set up to ambush and kill. Premeditated murder on Police officers is about as bad as it gets.

  • @georgewilson3110

@Hugh Mungis the lack of accountability of officers is something that needs to be looked at(more so reprimands for police brutality, chauvin had over 18 complaints from people fo all races eg), but for one to compare the case of a police officer killing someone on a job to a murder conducted by a citizen, is ridiculous, as the offense is carried out in the line of duty. there is no law saying that police can't restrain using chaiuvins methods(though there should be) and no necessary link to the nature of that murder until there is a proper investigation(this is all things they already have to consider), and even now we have 2 different autopsy results , the simple fact is in every case of an offense like this in both black and white victim and officer cases, leads to an internal investigation that leads to a charge that leads to a court case, it will never be a case that there is an immediate charge as there are so many more factors to consider in the average case of "alledged" police brutality and so many avenues that need to be taken first... step 1 is loose jobs, step 2 is review of evidence and charge, step3 is court case,,, all of those things were happening.. this would have lead to a charge on chauvin, the protests did nothing but topush a false racial narrative, that promoted racial division and contempt for the police force, who are already operating on deadly streets.

"No cop killer should walk the face of the earth?" Really??? But cops are allowed to kill everyday and walk? Ridiculous. This is one of the issues. The rules has to be even for all. You cannot look at one and not the other because what you force us to do is make a choice on who's life is worth more. Just because you're a COP with a badge does not mean you're a good person, and because you killed a cop does not mean your life is over. Where's the middle ground?? These extremes will only divide us.

Liers!...The Man should be free, he paid his price, the wife of this officer is revengeful, holding on as she did with his dish at the table. She saids it not for her to forgive but God to forgive, shifting her spiritual responsibility as a child of God to forgive. God forgives us as we forgive others. That's how it works. It's very sad that she doesn't know that if she forgives him, she will be released of a degree of pain and loss and will feel a closeness of her husband that she hasn't felt while he was alive. I understand here pain and loss however it doesn't replace ignorance. Father forgive them they know not what they do.

This man has done his time. Holding him in prison will not bring back lost lives. Usually, I would say let a murderer rot in prison, but this is totally a different circumstance. Blacks have withstood racism for as far back as I can remember. Things were even worse when this happened. I can only imagine what I would have done if I were a young black male during that time. For the love of God, let this man out to be with his family. He is no longer a threat to the community and chances are that this man today would be a great asset to the community. I pray that they release this man.
