This History For Humans episode focuses on the 1968 Olympic Black power protest and the Black Power Movement in America and how it transformed the Civil Rights Movement. This is a story-lecture tells the story behind how Tommie Smith, John Carlos, and Peter Norman protest at the 1968 Mexico Olympics and uses that to teach the rise of the Black Power Movement during the Civil Rights Era. It reviews Malcolm X's teachings, the transformation of SNCC under Stokely Carmichael, the Black Panthers, and the Watts Riot/Uprising, and the story of behind the famous photograph of Carlos' and Smith's powerful protest.
