I gave him a Monster Squad pin at Summer Slaughter last year and he put it on his vest. When I saw this interview and noticed it I fanboyed so hard.

Watching this interview after hearing of Trevor's death. Man so sad what a cool human being the world is a less cool place today without you man. 💔

So sad to watch this.First time ive seen it since Trevor passed away.Still seems senseless but we will never know what his state of mind must have been like.Such a great band with everything going for them.

Actually makes me tear up that he's gone. Castlevania 1 2 and 3 are still my favorite childhood games. From unhallowed to verminous BDM are legends. Rest in peace Trevor.

I am ashamed to admit I knew nothing of The Black Dahlia Murder beyond their name, nor did I know anything of Ser Trevor shown herein before a few days past upon hearing the tragic reports of him having shuffled loose the mortal coil. Now, the more I delve into various pieces of media and learn about Mr Strnad, I fear I may forever have lost the chance to properly appreciate someone for whom I would have been quite the vocal supporter and, most sadly of all, just as my own dearly beloved and infinitely missed big brother Dave-O, to have lost yet another shining spirit to the nigh-incomprehensible horror of suicide. I haven't even begun to dig into what I can now only assume is some gnarly killer metal music. But I suppose part of the marvelous majesty of not merely metal, but indeed all of the Divine Language Whose Name Is Music, is in its own inherent eternity. Trevor and his memory shall remain immortal while his art survives. So, would any BDM fans out there have a suggestion for an entry level album for a newcomer to first give a listen? Yes, I could look up a discography, but I would be most grateful for the preemptive advantage granted by a measure of familiar perspective. Thank you and stay sic, my fellow heshers.

Start with nocturnal the album is a heavy metal masterpiece and it’s their defining album. It’s what made them household names among metal enthusiasts. From there every album is an evolution of, and the seamless progression of nocturnal. The line up changes consistently from unhallowed until nightbringers but Trevor and Brian are the driving force. And they have it so dialed in that it’s hard to tell from album to album that they got a new drummer or new guitar player. Start with nocturnal from there take your pick, everything up to vermonis is a face melter. I can tell you’re a linguist. You will love and appreciate his lyrics. When you see how fun loving and humorous these dude are the more the lyrics seem like scary campfire stories instead of grotesque horror for the sake of grotesque horror.

Man he seemed so cool, I can totally agree with his passion for old games. My brother and I are always playing these old games and still prefer watching movies on VHS and it seems like everyone I talk to doesn't get it. Idk if it's nostalgia or what but it's awesome and simple and maybe that's what I like. 🤘

I didnt know anything about him or his band, but when i saw he passed, i felt a tremendous sadness. After watching his interviews/listening to bdm since his death, i truly feel like ive lost a best friend.

TBDG always pop in my head everytime I play those classic Castlevania GBA.. they do have some similarity about castles, bats and vampiric theme, and neo classical melodic soundtracks. Glad to know that Trevor was into it too hahaha

I fucking knew it. Never heard Trevor mention it until now. But I always knew what a horrible night to have a curse was based off Castlevania 2 Simon's quest. Off topic but my favorite Castlevania has to be the one for snes super Castlevania 4... This video just made my morning.

Trevor! If you're into the 8-bit sidescroller stuff look into "Slain: Back from Hell". Great time to be a sidescroller fan in modern gaming. Kind of a renaisance going on with a lot of the indie producers coming out with legit stuff. Anyway, Slain is definitely tapped into the castlevania vein and it adds elements of metal.
