I must not fear Dune for the PS2. Dune for the PS2 is the mind-killer. Dune for the PS2 is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face Dune for the PS2. I will permit Dune for the PS2 to pass over me and through me. And when Dune for the PS2 has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see Dune for the PS2's path. Where Dune for the PS2 has gone there will be nothing. Only Oboe Shoes will remain.

Ironically, that sounds _exactly_ like something he would write, especially in the later novels. One of the things that turned me off from the series was just how much of our contemporary stuff was lifted whole into this supposedly exotic world of many millennia into the future. The first book is rather dignified and the three sequels largely keep to this spirit as well, but then some weird shit starts happening and suddenly you get the Mother Superior of the Bene Gesserit go to a bigass Bene Gesserit canteen to dine alongside fellow Bene Gesserit and spend an entire paragraph talking about whatever's happening in the kitchen. Really bizzare, sort of a Frankenstein of literature.

Judging from the font on the cover art and the time this came out, I believe this was meant to be a tie-in with the Sci-Fi channel mini-series. I would highly recommend that series for fans of the book looking for an alternative to the Lynch version which stays closer to the text, though with the caveat that it's low budget and very "stagy" in its production. Unlike this game, it executes well with the resources available.

To be fair, having the player fight illegal Ixian and Tleilaxu creations could be cool, even if it wouldn't be 100% lore friendly. The Westwood Dune games for instance let you recruit exotic units from those factions, if your faction gained a strong enough favor with them. But of course the problem here is we are talking about something possibly being cool in the PS2 Dune game.

well on dune, people used guns again because shields attract the worms. Fremen especially would always use their guns, their krys dagger being of more ceremonial value. Only once it's unsheathed it has to draw blood otherwise it will dissolve. Only the fedaykin used their daggers extensively.
