The psychotic Yosser Hughes stare and cowboy gear is straight out of David Lynchs Blue Velvet. The pelvic thrusting in the leather kecks absolutely seminal. There will never be an artist like Tracy Pew ever again totally unique and gone far to early. RIP Tracy.

Tracy suffered a epileptic attack in 86 if im correct after being clean from heroin and booze. He was in the shower and just like that it happened and he hit his head so many times in the bath tub that he bled out. But in the shows in a drug frenzy he just went nuts, he never jumped or anything( for what i'ved read) he would throw himself back and just give in to the music. RIP Tracy. Hell of a fuckin' tone always.

I knew the band so the music was not new to me but the performance itself was a statement that is unique in the history of prime time TV to this day. Provocative, dirty, aggressive, druggy, dangerous, downright scary: cool as fuck. This night I learned there was no sexier bass than a Rickenbacker. That’s who SA were aspiring to be…I remember going to a SA show tripping on acid. David Yow asked if anyone had seen the cover of their new album - ‘Berserker’. He handed me the mic, and I started spewing whatever lysergic razzmatazz flying through my brain at that moment. His eyes got wider and wider and he slowly attempted to pull the microphone away from me, growing almost desperate in his efforts. Needless to say, I scared the shit out of David Yow. I doubt I would’ve even gotten close to the microphone in Nick Cave’s hands in his Birthday Party pomp. Don’t put the cart before the horse, or in this case, the kicking mustang.

It was something else. I saw them live & they tore the place & themselves up. Lydia Lunch opened for them at the Roxy. The closest band live I can describe them as playing like was is The Stooges only The Birthday Party was like 5 Iggys.
Hello Mat Korvette
CocaCola with the Coka in it. No smoke machine necessary.
So, one of the guitarists looks like he thought he was joining Simple Minds. And then Tracy Pew was just born for this moment. Rock'n' Roll needs more bass playing car thiefs.

@@pauliethepunk It was actually a Dutch tv show with a German name. This was made for VPRO Television, I should know cause I was the producer and co-editor :) Later I directed the documentary 'Stranger in a strange land' with Nick and the Bad Seeds in Berlin. Very honored that for the trailer of the current Copenhagen expo about Nick (Stranger Than Kindness), several shots from this clip were used.
