I have come to the conclusion that, for me at least, the entertainment value of AoC is not in the prospect of the eventual (allegedly) finished game, but rather in the journey itself. Watching AoC grow is a long term pastime that has lasted longer than my interest in ANY MMORPG that I have played in the last 25 years. I enjoy the development process and watching the Steven Sharif Show every month is something I look forward to and that always generates a visceral reaction, positive, negative, or somewhere in between. When AoC launches that pastime comes to an end and with that end comes the death of all anticipation, speculation, and imaginings.

I agree, well said indeed. I worry about that for myself as well. It has been and continues to be a wonderful journey, but will I love the game as much as I loved following it? I can only hope so. Great comment and I'm sure many feel the same

At this point I say forget the feedback and make the game you want to make. Need to give some creators some space to achieve their vision. Sure, I would be happy to recommend stuff way later but the developers have to be able to create their own game first or it won't be any good IMO.

I think the Corruption System is fine just as it is. Every player has complete control over weather they want to be corrupt or not. The penalty for becoming corrupt will not be fun. Steven has said: : PK'ers and Griefers will NOT ruin this game that I am creating. People will be watching and sliders (corruption penalty) will be adjusted". Players will find loop-holes and cheats, that is what the Alpha-2 test is for, so the loop-holes and cheats can be discovered and corrected.

there are already pvp guilds who will go to war taking node after node zerging everything.does corruption play a role when nodes are at war?

This is the same thing I tried telling people in that ultra massive AoC forum post about corruption/pvp. I kept trying to explain how A2 was not going to be good enough feedback on the corruption system considering they won't even remotely represent the average player on launch. I was saying that so that if any devs were reading they knew they HAVE to overtune the fuck out of corruption. It needs to be overly punishing just to make sure. I feel like it was definitely going to be an oversight from the devs, and a costly one we cannot afford. Yea it'll break some systems like bounty hunting and some intended occasional world PvP, but it's better they start tight on launch and then work it down very gradually than have it too loose at start cause all the griefers didn't for A2 keys. They're gonna get in while the gettin is good, at launch, when all the casuals that come out which hate PvP with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

I just don't see any new MMO seeing major success at this point. The novelty of online play is what made MMOs so appealing prior, which is now a standard feature in most games.

@RyveGenesis I think a lawsuit will hit before then but hey not bashing the time you took for this or the content you put up, it seems like a scam going on 9 years now and the only game release they had was an alpha and battle royale. Steve looks like he's loaded along with the staff.They only have one game how can they sustain that long with out releasing a product .My guess another game studio will buy the project out after a lawsuit for ripping 1000s of people off.

It will fail when the people awaiting this game die of old age before it releases
