    The maico at the end is not the Mx model and is not a 2014 and maico didn't stop making them in 2014. They still make them today. That was the maico enduro 685. Yes they did stop calling them the 700 in 2014, but that's because KTM absorbed maico to keep the legend alive, but in doing so maico has to let KTM build the engine and they had to rename the bikes by the true cc. You can order and ship a 2018 maico endure 685 from Germany to the U.S. for around $11,000 +/- U.S.. For the most powerful dirtbike ever produced at 80 something hp, that is a steal. They don't finance though. The maico enduro is street legal in Europe and America as it meet eu4 emissions standards.

    Ben Hawke the 685 is far away from the 11k $, it's 15500€ plus omologation and registration, so it will be around 20k $ (plus the shipping costs). And they are made not by ktm, but handmade on request by a ktm dealership who has bought the maico brand

    fede_ supermoto Tomato/tomoto, potato/potpoto. And your prices and taxes in Europe suck ass because of the European union, socistlistcal import laws, and extortionate taxes. I did the math and to get a maico bought, delivered, and registered here in Washington state USA, it would cost me right around $12,378 U.S. . Hell it would only cost me $75 to register it hear for road use. Shipping would only cost me between $700 to $1200 depending on who I have ship it. That's why I put a plus or minus after the $11,000. To insinuate fluctuation depending on you're region, currency, and shipping costs. Man I'm glad I don't live where you do. I bet a pound of beef is like $20/Lb.

    Ben Hawke mate I just read the price on Koestler site, nothing that's connected with taxes or else. 15k € is approx 17k$, plus shipping you're over 18k, so I'm not that far off. I don't know how you can have one for 11k, as I said I just read the pricing on the site. PS I don't have to pay for my health, I prefere some extra taxes......

    fede_ supermoto Yeah I just looked. They raised the prices from what they were back in march.. but still not that bad. And the health care thing.. I pay $345 a month for healthcare. When they passed universal healthcare here called Obama care, I had to pay $1500/week for my family for the same coverage or go on government care with a $875/month tax for very minimal care and most things were out of pocket and it could take a week to get approval for a brace for a sprained ankle. Then Trump came in and removed the mandatory requirement to have healthcare insurance and insurance companies had to compete for business again. Now my rates are at $385/month for near full coverage for my entire family. I've lived both sides of universal healthcare and can tell you that it's a 1000 times better to pay for healthcare in a free and open market than have the government in charge of my care. Oh well, a few druggy homeless bums can't get same quality of healthcare, but they made their choices in life, why should I pay for them. Government healthcare was causing massive inflation and lowering everyone's quality of life.

    I had an 84 CR500 just like the one shown. I bought an 84 after reading in 85 Honda detuned it a bit with exhaust sub ports because it was "too fast". Of course I had to make it faster, Moose Racing did a "torque porting" job on it and I also had their 2 lb flywheel weight welded on. It made the somewhat of a handful stock powerband super smooth down low and the porting added quite a bit in the middle, the DG National expansion chamber gave a bit on top. I have no idea the HP but it was decently faster than it was stock and much easier to ride with the flywheel weight. That being said it would scare the shit out of me every time I rode it. I could keep up with anyone in the trails and never get off the pilot jet it seemed, however crack that thing open and you better be facing the direction you want to go and you better have your ass WAY up on the seat cuz your going for a ride. My friend who was a great rider took it for a spin and came back white, called it the "widowmaker" asking how the fuck I ride that thing. It taught me all about trailing throttle headshake and throttle control. 55 yrs old now and way too old to be on one of those, thanks for the memories.

    Just for clarification, some of the hp numbers were quoted from the rear wheel whereas others were at the crank. The Honda CR500 made 53 hp at the wheel in 1984 and around 61 at the crank. The 85-86 bikes made 55-56 hp at the wheel and around 62-63 at the crank.

    alex, you say 2 strokes sound bad-some do but MOTO GP had 2 strokes until a few years back and they were absolutely wicked fast. Most of your modern diesel locomotives are 2 stroke engines. They out perform in every way compared to a 4 stroke. On bikes, the 2 stroke has immediate power.

  • @scottstickney1305

    @scottstickney1305

    Craig Pennington would love to see any same cc two stroke take either one of my track set kxfs my 250 and my 450 have destroyed all 2 strokes I've faced not saying there isn't one out there but to compare their power is stupid. Two strokes get 15% power band in their range while my 4 stroke has instant torque at any rpm. Not to mention I can hold my bike pinned for longer then 3 seconds without being scared to blow my motor. I get each rider has their own prefrence but you cannot say twonsteoke produce more usable power because that's straight up bullshit!

  • @dylanpowell2307

    @dylanpowell2307

    2 strokes make more power per displacement, that's a fact. 2 strokes and modern 4 strokes also have just about the same motor rebuild times now. 2 strokes can also perform longer at higher rpms due to lack of valves. 4 strokes are great and all, but after building my top ends at 30 hours and cranks at 60, I've only blown motors on my 4 strokes.

    @@dylanpowell2307 So much wrong in your message... 2 strokes used to have twice the power per CC. But that's ancient information.. It's so weird how many people just say these things without even looking up some information on this. The latest 2019 models of the 4 stroke Motocross bikes literally have the same amount of horsepower as their same displacement 2 stroke models, not to mention, they even weigh the same aswell, give or take a kilo or two depending on the manufacturer. A brand new 2019 Yamaha YZ250, has 45 horsepower and weighs 99.3 kg wet A brand new 2019 KTM 250SX-F has 46 horsepower and weighs 99.5 kg wet. The most powerful 450 bike model of 2019 is the Honda CRF450R, which has well over 60 horsepower. The whole two stroke is way more powerful, and lighter weight arguments didn't work anymore and used to apply back when 4 strokes were low revving, torquey but low horsepower carbureted, air cooled bikes. You're wrong about the rebuilds aswell, 2 strokes require to be rebuilt allot more than 4 strokes. Yes it's cheaper to be rebuilt, sure. But it loses all that edge be requiring to be rebuilt at least 2 or 3 times within the same time you even think about rebuilding your 4 stroke. Not to mention that if you do regular oil changes, and filter maintenance and don't thrash the shit out of your bike every day, you can easily go wayy over the recommended rebuild time with your 4 stroke. I'm at 124 hours right now with my 2011 kawasaki KX250F, and i haven't touched the internals in the year I've owned it yet. I have two friends that i ride with off road, and one has a Crf250x that he hasn't touched apart from regular oil changes and filter management, in the last 4 years of owning it, and probably putting at least 400, 500 plus hours on that thing

    Dean Grimsell right, thats old info, new 4 stroke bikes are fuel injected and just simply built better now. I been into this stuff for a while, and i remember 2 strokes were faster bikes, until they started making 450 4 strokes. 400ex and the kaw/zuk 400s werent all that fast but when the yfz450 and trx450 came out they were just an entirely different breed. 500 and 600 and even 700 4 strokes were made and were still not faster than 450 4 strokes. The 450s changed the game. 2 strokes no longer have the title
