This is how #Kathmandu shook that fateful day April 25 2015.... an EQ of 7.9- 8.1 RS, the trauma always remains, but the life has to go on... We all shall learn to live with the memory slowly I feel.... !
This footage was originally published by • Video . I took the liberty to translate the clip in English with a little bit of description about the place and the situations. It was the darkest day after nearly 80 years. This day wiped out our precious heritage in matter of seconds in Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Squares. It shall take years to rebuild, the death toll has already crossed 10,000 with 500,000 house destroyed, and 8 million people affected. Some areas in Dolkha, Burpak, Sindupalchowk, Langtang has been simply wiped out from the map and few houses in Kathmandu Valley has collapsed, but the houses in Gongabu, Balaju, Ramkot, Sankhu have been severely affected.
This Clip shows an intersection at Aasan Dabali in Kathmandu one of the busiest place. The day was Saturday around noon thus the footfall was not quite dense. I am putting a part of the clip around 1.20 seconds to remind everyone, how the earth shakes when it becomes as large as 7,9-8.1 RS, which is 260,000 times larger than the one small tremor which happened in Kent, England around 4.2 RS few days back.
The Quake made Kathmandu Shift by around 10 feet, and the sway in east west was around 3.5 second lag, and north south around 5 second lag. It had an 0.2 acceleration which is how they shook a building in Lab for seismic resistance of one scaled model of one 30 story building in China. • Seismic Test for 30 St... .
The quake was so very powerful my feet still trembles nearly a month later today. We had more than six shakes of plus 6 RS magnitude in a period of two weeks and one 7.4 RS of May 12 literally petrified everyone in town.
Hope The God becomes merciful to all of us here in Kathmandu… ! We have been shattered like anything, Hope it cools down and we begin a normal life soon. #Scary

I love how the people gather and stayed strong together.
I’m from So.California, I’ve had my fair share of mild earthquakes, but seeing the group of people moving like a wave in the ocean is crazy
Still remember that moment. I was scared as heck that time cuz we were literally surrounded by buildings from all sides. If only one collapsed I would not have been writing this comment. Didn't sleep for two days and was literally day dreaming the next day. There were literally no open place in my area to run. We camped outside next to my house surrounded by other houses from all sides. The day it rained heavily we spent a night at my neighbors back garden. The place was full so there was literally no place to sleep but we somehow adjusted at the tight space. I had to sleep with my head on my mother's lap. Don't know if she slept or not. Our place was really not safe so we stayed at my uncle's house for few months. My uncle had farm land so we all camped there for some months. His old house was destroyed so we acted as a helping hand for transporting his stuff.

You are still breathing, you are Still Alive, Say Thanks to The Almighty Creator, send your gratitude to Almighty Creator, He gave you a 2nd chance, dont ruin it, dont be ignorant again, Find your purpose of life, why you are created, who creator you, what he wants, Research this, ask this question, Why are you worshipping a cow/monkey/animals/ statues, that cant defend themselves, why are you making gods and then worshipping your own made creation, (its totally insulting to the Almighty Creator) Why its wrong, why its Against the Nature of Almighty God, who created us, Why the Almighty described himself in Surah ikhlas, (chapter 112) in Quraan : Say, “He is God, the One. 2. God, the Absolute. 3. He begets not, nor was He begotten. 4. And there is none comparable to Him.” In these 4 simple lines he is saying, About himself, So i will request you to my brother @Bp pradhan, to read the Quraan, know about your creator, And utilize this 2nd life, 2nd chance that Our Creator you, Not many people get 2nd chance in life, You are lucky.

I'm curious to see what would've happened if they all just sat down, held and supported each other and formed a circle. I don't think they would've swayed that dramatically.

@@fatherlouiswilliamsugaadams It's not easy to just sit down when all of a sudden a massive earthquake hits you. People start panicking and lose sense of what's happening around them. Also, the video doesn't do any justice to the scale of that earthquake.
I was in class 5 then and now I'm in 12! I still remember I was very excited for my school function and was preparing for it, my mom was at the shop to purchase make up and other stuffs required for my function. I was sitting in the chair in balcony and this chair suddenly started shaking I was so scared but I thought I was just imagining things..I moved to the next chair beside me and it was also shaking and I moved on the next chair and again and continued it till the earthquake stopped🤦♀️😂 my mom came running and I informed her then she said that it was earthquake and I was so happy to experience earthquake but when I opened the television and saw the state of nepal...I was so devastated and sad...I couldn't explain. It was so strong that it was felt in my area that is east India!

The love of the mother who protected her child is stronger than any earthquake.

The lady that immediately dropped to the floor with her kids made that much more dangerous for her kids than it actually was.. I understand what she's trying to do, but laying your kids down right in the middle of where there's a crowd running is ridiculous.
I have experienced one earthquake, a 4.7 in England 2002. That was tiny compared to the proper ones, but let me tell you it is terrifying when the Earth moves and you don't expect it!!! We were within 10 miles of the epicentre, which was less than 10 miles below ground. I can't imagine the fear and adrenaline of experiencing a high magnitude quake!! Maybe it would feel like the world is ending. Footage like this really helps me to better grasp... the vast majority of footage just shows a camera moving from side to side and some things falling over, which doesn't really do any justice.
