I enjoyed Justice League for what it was. I mean, it didn't blow me away or anything, but I don't think it was AS BAD as a lot of people were saying.
But, at the same time, it wasn't that good either.
These are my opinions as to why that is.

yeah because Logan expounded on the backstory of the main character and made him relatable to the audience thru many different movies while DC just added a bunch of plain, bland and gritty characters and they expect us to like them.

Justice league failed since it didnt show the characters backstories. I also blame the reshoots and the two different directors with two different versions of the story. One with the lighthearted vision and the second with a dark vision of the story.

I also think dc lacks the attention to detail marvel really puts in their movies and scenes to make everything more realistic. One part that really annoyed me in JL was the battle under water were steppwolf is literally choking the Atlantis woman... like really what "air" pathway are you blocking off she is a fish woman.

I disagree. The biggest problem with this movie is that it's an incoherent incomplete mess; it doesn't feel like a traditional movie. Due to the rushed pacing, everything just escalates too quickly; you don't feel any weight from the stakes nor the villain. It feels like there's a lot of material missing in between scenes. There's just too much going on that doesn't leave any room for fleshing out the characters and the story. Overall, it just lacks the buildup that the first avengers had. Your problem seems to be geared toward DC cinematic universe as a whole, rather than justice league alone.

I think the worst thing the DCEU could do at this point is try and copy MCU's current trajectory. I don't think trying to lighten up the mood and making more jokes is the answer for DC. There are downsides to that, and it is showing in the MCU -- the jokes are enjoyable, until they start to ruin the emotional weight of every moment and, eventually, the movie. There is a careful balance to this type of self-aware humor, definitely. Too much, and they are just afraid to be serious. I think DCEU biggest problem are its characters -- they are not yet charismatic and we don't particularly love any of them. Except Diana. Diana is the heart of the DCEU, fight me.

Rickard Boman -- Absolutely. I get the feeling that they are rushing through everything, without putting much care into developing the details of this world and its characters, which consequently makes them feel artificial, prioritizing spectacle over substance. A perfect example of that is BvS. It bit way off more than it could chew. It wanted to be a sequel to Superman's story, a introduction of Batman, Wonder Woman AND Lex Luthor, a philosophical and nuanced take on Superman's influence in the world, and a set-up for Justice League. That is more than a movie can comfortably be. If they had decided on a single idea and devoted more time to that, maybe the movie could have turned out differently. Better, even. I agree with you. The DCEU needs to take a break, take a breath, and slow down. If it means we will get a good and captivating movie, we can wait.

The problem with DC movies is they’re are quick to rush things. Batman v Superman was a cluster fuck of characters/important plot lines. Two movies Batman has been in we still don’t know him and motivates to be the bat. He’s kinda of a water down version of Christian Bale. Instead of giving Superman a sequel expanding on how life is as a superhero and he’s moral guidelines but nooo !!! they stuff him into a movie with Batman essentially killing his character development and destroy a very good plot line of “the death of Superman” in the process. Wonder Woman the only dc movie that majority of people like is a good movie because they flushed her character. It’s not the perfect movie but we as an audience get to emotionally attached to the character Diana. DC one thing you have to learn is take the baby steps before you go on a full sprint to catch up. Let’s your character get their own movies and expand on their characters.

anju creative because all of those apart from Lego batman are not released in cinemas and as such are going to be seen only by those interested in the characters from the comics. Like if justice league dark was released in cinemas, would people that don't follow comics know who Constantine, Swamp Thing and Etrigan are? Probably not, a couple may know John from his TV show but even then, it got cancelled after 1 season, partially because of its low ratings. Whereas Batman and Superman are famous even to those that aren't comic fans so they'd get more exposure. So despite the animated movies being mostly great, they're not going to impact the superhero bubble in Hollywood

  • @babyroxasman

Animated is definitely way different than the live action. For sure DC wins when it comes to those. But now for the live it has to appeal to mostly older people and get people who don't read the comics hooked. People who see an animated movie coming out will most likely think its a kids and teen movie and won't really want to go. Which is why DC wants to try and get in on this live action stuff. Well really this is all a guess but here's what I think about it.

It really feels rushed to me. Like those backstories taken up a lot of screen time. Each of the characters has his/her own time to shine but I don't really feels them as a team. I don't really understand either why Aquaman was there (One of the boxes belong to his people, yeah I understand that.) and his power isn't really used at all in the movie. I enjoy watching it but yeah, I agree that it's not that good. 7/10 for me.

nah, I think its cause these other 'cinematic universes' dn't have a plan beyond 'make lots of moneyyyy'. they don't have any real story or reason tying these movies together, they're just trying to force a cinematic continuity because its working so well for marvel. that and they don't really have good writing, characterisation or visuals, and in general are pretty disingenuous. Plus, DC's forced grittiness flies in the face of how its supposed to be the mroe optimisitic universe, where MARVEL's supposed to be the gritty, down to earth continuity with flawed heroes.

I actually was worried about the fatigue last year. We had Suicide Squad, X-Men Apocalypse and BvS release in the same year... Those movies were god awful. Thank goodness that Civil War, Deadpool and Doctor Strange came out in the same year. So 2016 was 50/50 for super hero movies. By contrast it's been a great 2017 for comic book movies. Marvel TV though has been atrocious. IDK if I'll continue watching the Marvel Netflix Tv shows.

I mean there's one big reason people stick around to see Marvel movies: Infinity War. People want to see an ending, and the last harrah for the first Marvel heroes is the closest thing we're going to get to that. Once the fourth Avengers movie is out, I don't know how Marvel' s going to keep their audience. Maybe people will wait to see the last Spider-Man or Guardians of the Galaxy, but I garuntee you a lot of people will jump ship after the Infinity Saga.

And I'm sure they'll make a new arc which people will want an ending for. Especially since it's revealed that the Skrulls we going to be in the MCU and if you know about them you would get how that could be turned into an arc.

Ryan Carson But still, all of the previous films interconnect in a way that feels like it's building to something. Once that something is over, people will inevitably leave since the build up is gone. It's like when the original cast for a show leaves. Sure, the new adventures might build on the universe set up, but people WILL quit watching because the core dynamic has changed for good.

The biggest problem with Justice League is Warner Brothers. They wanted a lighter movie and the director made something darker. The movie was also going to be longer than two hours and WB didn't want that. So they hired someone else to come in and "fix" it to their liking. So many things were cut from the movie. There are videos that explain this better than I do, because there are other factors that come into this. Bottom line: Warner bros needs to leave well enough alone, they keep shooting themselves in the foot by messing with the director's artistic vision.

Hahahaha this comment section man... is awesome! People is so invested in it. I don't know about the comics but I have seen the movies and I think the problem is critics comparing franchises. Imagine them doing the same with other movie generes like romance or drama, you have to critic something for what it is in itself and not for what is not in comparison to something else. So for me the first problem with superheroes movies is the lack of commitment in actually pay attention to the movie and see what brings on to you as a specialized/audience. Just check the critics about Batman "The Dark Knight" or more recently "Wonder Woman", they call audiences that doesn't care for comics to go to the theaters because critics discuss about the deep meaning and social references in them and not to just talk about how superior or inferior were in comparison to other movies.

Here's the problem I think. People that have watched MARVEL movies at times unconsciously fall into continuance with the same formula, even without noticing it because it's become so ingrained at this point. What I mean by that is.. 90% of the MARVEL movies or origin stories are "Charismatic douchebag gets humbled, and becomes a hero, moments of comedy and drama ensue." Here is the thing, MARVEL had a lot of characters at the time the MCU began that on the 'mass' weren't really cared about outside of the X-Men, Spider-Man and the Hulk and at times the Fantastic 4. No one really cared about Iron-Man or even Captain America on a mainstream level. So what the MCU was able to do was use that formula for the guy it fit best in Tony Stark, and outside of Bruce Banner and Steve Rogers, they were able to use that formula in ensuing origin stories of less known Marvel characters. Thor: Charismatic douchebag Ant-Man: Charismatic douchebag Dr. Strange: Charismatic douchebag Guardians of the Galaxy: Charismatic douchebags except Groot and so on and so forth. But the thing is, this formula kind of ingrained that all superheroes share this similar kind of wavelength and have the same kind of character and they all fit into the same world through that one kind of common thing, with one or two outliers. NOW the reason why I say this is a problem.. is because it's caused people to forget that Superheroes can be unique, different and have two COMPLETELY different personalities. People cite that THE FLASH stands out from the rest of the Justice League because he isn't dark and brooding, and they use that as an "example" that DC was listening to inject more humor. Just one problem... THAT is the Flash's character and it always has been, be it Barry or Wally the personality has always had that sense of levity and the problem is, people have gotten so used to a cinematic universe sharing the same tone, they forget that characters like the DC characters all have their own flavors and distinct personalities. The fact they cite the Flash as the example of "DC listening to inject more humor" essentially means they've subconsciously stopped seeing these characters as individuals and instead see them under one umbrella. This is a problem... Because that means that years ago a Batman movie could be made and you'd expect it to be Dark. A Superman movie could be made and you'd expect it's tone to be lighter with hints of darkness. A Flash movie could be made and you'd expect it to be funny A Wonder Woman movie could be made and you'd expect it to be Fantasy An Aquaman movie would be made and you'd expect it to have a sense of regalia and responsibility and aspects of horror of the undersea world. BUT NOW ... they don't see these characters as individuals with their own distinct flavors, styles and tone's.. they see them as one entity under the DC Umbrella and thus expect their tones to match. THIS is a big problem and it's because the MCU did similar with a bunch of characters no one in the mainstream really cared about till those moments and were able to fit them under a similar tone and umbrella. But because of that some fans can't get through their mind that a Batman movie can be made that's dark, and a Flash movie could be made that's funny, and they'd all fit in the same universe. They don't see it as a "Flash" movie and one a "Batman" movie. They see them both as "DC" movies, and to them "DC" means "dark and gritty" instead of the variety it actually has in it. THAT TO ME is the biggest problem imo.

yes flash can have funny story and batman can be dark and broody etc. but when u put them in one movie u have to make them work together not clash against each other. for example i liked deadpool and i like wolverine but if u would put deadpool in Logan it would clash against the tone of the movie and would destroy whatever u felt during Logan.

DC probably thought they were going to fall behind on the superhero movies trend if they took their time which is too bad because the DCEU has some nice aesthetic and characters and stories but they just were never expanded upon. I find it even stranger that after justice league they made the first aqua man movie which is pretty odd. If you were going to make aquaman and justice league movies Why not just make and release aqua man before justice league so we could at least have some connection with that character in the big team up.

I just watched Justice League yesterday and I actually really enjoyed it despite all the internet nonsense that's going on now. I knew going in all the turmoil this film went through with the directors and how the DC characters have been handled on film thus far. So I felt I shouldn't hold this movie to the same levels of the current superhero universe and it helped my enjoyment a lot. You do have some good points though and I agree with most of them but I still feel this movie doesn't deserve all this hate the internet (not you) has been giving it. On a side note.... they also where forced to only do a 2 hour (max) movie with new characters being introduced, VERY DUMB!!

  • @nitac7174

Marvel also spent years building up to the Avengers. They had solo movies before it that introduced most of the main characters and we knew/cared about them. Justice League was incoherent, the reshoots took whole sections of the story out and rewrote it, they had to cut the movie down to two hours because the head honchos wanted it and that meant cutting out more of the intros to characters, the villain was underdeveloped and there was no real reasoning to anything... the biggest answer to their problems was 'bring Superman back from the dead' which is... a total cop out. No one was like 'Thor is the only way we can ever win battle, no one else matters. Teamwork doesn't matter.' And they ignored characters/character traits. If you feel that the Flash is the only non-gritty member than that's not the Justice League and the writing is off.

DC needs to work on their tone by finding a good balance of humor and seriousness (Marvel undercut their serious scenes with humor). I don't think Marvel movies are that special (they are pretty forgettable) they follow the same formula of Superman: The movie. WB/DC just need to do a hard reboot, find their own tone, get good writers and director, and stay true to the core of their characters. Take their time, even if it mean releasing one movie a year. I don't want Marvel to be the only studio putting out movies, it get stale because there is nothing that pushing the studio to do something interesting nor different.

My main problem with the writing of Justice League, is that everything was solved with a Deux Ex Machina more than one time in the movie. Every big conflict situation they set was solved because suddenly a caracther that wasn't in the situation showed up in the end, like superman and aquaman. And in the end, stephenwolf gets scared and its defeated because of that, even tough we didn't know anything about it.

The problem with the DEU is that by trying to play catch up, they skip the stories nd movies the viewers really want to see, and jumbles a whole lot of stuff into one rushed experence that feels mudded and hard to follow. By the time we got to advengers, we knew many of the charecters quite well. We've had Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk. We had Black widow show in Iron man 2, so we had an idea what they were and how they tick. It also helped that each movie and a single villian, a complete story arch, and help set the stage for movies to follow with clues as what was yet to come. Now, take Suiside Squad and Justice leage. Both had clunky exposition thrown at us, conoluted and rushed plots with way to many elements thrown in.Both could have had lead in movies that tell the charecters background and why they matter. Every charecter they had show up as a member of Suidide Squad could have used their own movie to intoduce them, ad it would have been a better movie. Even Joker& Harley, or the Acraeologist with the 8,000 year old soresor in her head would have been interesting ad inqiue movies in their own right. But instead, we get an awardly laid out movie in which scene changes happen at odd points, and the villian they need to fight turns out to be ultimitally one of their own. Then was Batman vs Superman. There were so many movies that they could have lead to this with. Even the writing on Batmans suit in the Batcave is a clue of a batter DCEU movie then what we ended up with. Then look at the plot. Its not Batman fighting Superman, its Bats vs Sups va Lex vs Zod vs Cave Troll, with Wondor Women helping out amid hitns of uniting the legque or what ever. Despite that, we still have time too see Bluce wanes parents die, and exposition tossed in that should have been part of a previous movie. Then Justie league doubles down on the need for exposition for way to many of the cherecters. Aqua man really needed his solo movie before this, as did Cyborg. Flash argubly would also, as they basically relouached the cherecter from the TV show in the Arrowverse. I was hoping o see the other DCEU charecters work together, now that they can't rely on Superman to save the day all the time, only for them to deside they need to bring back Superman with the Mother box, and then fight the big bad. a Big bad that felt more a CGI project trying to be important then a traditional DC villian, and when DC is known for there villans, that in itself is a major let down.

The main problem with DCEU is that they are rushing things to much because they are afraid of missing the hero craze. To put it into perspective is like marvel would release Iron man, Civil war, then something like the Thunderbolts with a bunch of characters that you dont know nothing about, then Thor and then the Avengers. If they would just take their time, they could've build a fantastic cinematic universe.

Superman is NOT ruff and grumbly and neither is Cyborg or Aquaman, these are pretty poor representations of the characters all in all and I think that that's the main problem with the DC cinematic universe. The saddest thing is that this is happening mostly because the people working in this movies (except Joss Whedon) don't really know the characters they're writing movies about because they don't really care about said characters in the first place, and neither does WB.

I feel like if they made Cyborg resemble the Cyborg from the original Teen Titans cartoon then maybe the Flash's character would have been better. I get that this movie was VERY different from the Teen Titans cartoon, but having a character for the Flash to be funny with might have helped. They made all of the characters depressing and gritty, and then handed the Flash all of the comic relief, which made him feel strange and out of place in the movie. I'm not at all saying a more lighthearted Cyborg would fix the movie, but I feel like it would have improved it.

Honestly I was a little upset that Cyborg wasn't like Cyborg in Teen Titans, being brooding but playing it off like he is totally happy and trying not to show he is in pain. Maybe that would have been a better blend to have flash in there too. The two play off one another like beast boy and cyborg. Of course that may have been called a rip off but whatever I'm just throwing ideas around.

I like the movie. And I like this video, you make great points. But I think the biggest problem with Justice League started with Batman V Superman. They had a plan for their extended universe that was very different from Marvel, and that's great, but they didn't know how to make it happen. And Justice League being a continuation from BVS...well...it was good in some things and it was entertaining but it also showed how they had to work some things through (pacing, story etc). Since they were similar problems BVS had. Now I enjoy the more darker aspect DC is taking. Marvel's light-hearted approach is nothing they came up with or nothing new. The Richard Donner Superman was more traditional and light-hearted compared to Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel. The same could be said for the Tim Burton Batman movie when you compare it to The Dark Knight or BVS. Superheroes were looked at as Goofy and good fun. Some early Marvel films we're more depressing than the marvel we know today. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films had a more serious approach. Compare those films to Homecoming and they're depressing. And some of the earlier Hulk movies as well as the Mess Daredevil was. Of course this is all based on comparisons and I'm not even sure that might be the case. But it sure looks like DC and Marvel switched places. One thing I will praise DC for (& I might be the only one who thinks this but whatever) is the way they handle their characters. DC has this huge pride when it comes to their history in both comics and Media, which means they take their properties seriously. And for me, it shows. As underwhelming as their recent movies have been I can honestly say the characters are the heart of the whole franchise. Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot shine as Superman and Wonder woman. I enjoy every minute the characters are on screen because they take great care of them. And for me that's what matters. Don't get me wrong. I love Marvel and DC equally. And I find it kind of unfair to be comparing both all the time when they don't need to be associated with each other. This just my own little analysis and point of view.

they did it way too fast. by the time avengers came out we already had two Iron Man movies, a Captain America movie, an Incredible Hulk, and a Thor movie. We knew enough about these characters to care when they fought. That's why the final battle in Civil War hurt. That's why the Blip scenes hurt. Every character, for the most part, was introduced in a smaller-scale movie before moving up to join the big, big movies. Spider-Man had a movie before Infinity War. Captain Marvel had a movie before Endgame, and she was barely even there. The question, "Who are you and why should I care?" shouldn't be answered in movies so large. Marvel did a good job tying their universes and characters together. If the DCEU wants what Marvel has, they need to pace and take their time.

DC would have been so much better off sticking to TV honestly. In a TV show you have TIME. You have time to forge a backstory, you have time to make the hero relatable, you have time to introduce the villains. I mean, look at Gotham, 3 seasons in and we're just starting to see the emergence of early Batman. We've seen WHY there are so many villains like Mr Freeze, with weird powers in that world. If DC wanted to catch up with Marvel, they would have done it with TV, and only introduce Justice League as film. But by the fact that DC are just rushing films out left and right pretty much shows that it is a huge money grab.

Like Suicide Squad could've been handled similar to the Avengers but in its own way. It could've engrained the sense of being an actual rival to Marvel inside of being incoherent. I do like DC, but Man of Steel should've opened executives' eyes to fixing shit, but I guess in a perfect world it would've been done already.. oh well. On the bright side, we can look forward to DC animated content.

I disagree with the vacuum part. BvS and JL would not have been received better if they were the only superhero movies. Complaints towards them have nothing to do with "they are not as good as Marvel"

I actually really liked the Flash in the movie. I could relate to him, being awkward and "funny" - it was almost like seeing myself being myself amongst "normal" people. I enjoyed the movie as it is. It is entertaining when I try to lock out the memories of Marvel movies when watching JL. Just like when I try to lock out the little knowledge I have about Norse mythology when watching Thor. Thor Ragnarok was pretty awesome. Tbh, I don't really think that DC needed these live action movies, mainly because I love their animated movies. They do awesome animated movies based on the comic books - I highly recommend Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Also, Marvel and DC have such opposite takes on their TV shows. I can't really get into the Marvel TV series, they just feel so dark, gritty and exhausting. The only reason I could get through the first season of Jessica Jones, was because I needed me some David Tennant. Whereas, the DC TV shows aren't afraid of being comic book shows - I mean, I couldn't really get into Arrow, but Flash and Supergirl are so much fun. I love the crossovers. I guess it also has something to do with the villains, DC have so many fun and interesting villains, and they use them. I understand why they don't use the Joker since he's such an iconic villain, and every time they cast a new Joker for the movies there's always so much drama about it. Btw, I just really want to give a shoutout to Mark Hamill's awesome voice acting as the Joker.

I honestly love DC and Marvel and will always support both of them. For example, I love both Spiderman (Homecoming) and The Flash and although they are similar, I don't think they are copies of each other

I think one of the biggest problem is that the majoraty of viewers isn't a diehard fan. For people who know all the backstory, knew the mother boxes beforehand and stuff this was actually a good movie. I notices the pacing was off, sometimes a bit hilarious when it wasn't supposed to be and small mistakes in world building (Superman isn't/wasn't supposed to be as fast as the flash). Overall I also think it was a decent film and hope dc will be able get better with their movies over time

They seem to rush things. They should be developing the first great script for their characters, not trying to jump to their version of the Avengers five years before they are ready. They seem to just not get the time and effort to hone a story, to take time to THINK and build something stellar. At is it in a nutshell, they are trying to microwave something that should be baking for hours.
