So something you might be interested in the hexagon pattern is also in all the final fantasy 7's post original game media including the neatly titled remake sequel thing. Curiously all the concepts of society and so on could actually be tied to it as well given a systemic situations in which they remove the leader of the big bad and you just have another leader replace him, changing nothing in the grand scheme of things. But the hexagon pattern is also tied to DNA and memory, in which many Final Fantasy Seven's underlying things in regards to its big bad are tied to genetics and memory alterations. In fact ff7 remake is basically about an attempt to alter the planet's memory which sounds stupid but the planet is a living entity in that story and has a spirit in a will, and so altering history is basically altering the memory of the planet. Change things leave out extraneous information, create new circumstance, influence. With the whispers in remake trying to protect against the changes but with four (five) specific ones trying to force changes. But yes, the hexagon pattern also ties to genetics and memory, both of which are themes in metal gear. The broken hexagons in the original metal gear solid more accurately represent DNA as genetic memory then the more current ones.

It’s scary how much of what was predicted in the MGS games is coming true in a way. Kojima is a genius.

Clearly Konami is the biggest enemy of the Metal Gear Solid series.

He was the same voice actor who did grandpa max in the Ben 10 series, from the original to alien force.

I have to admit that I feel a bit stupid for not piecing this together. I noticed the recurring appearance of the hexagons, but never connected the dots. Way to go on this. I love your videos.

The hexagon pattern also reminds me of snake scales, though I looked at some pictures online, SOME snakes have scales looking hexagonal but not perfect or symmetrical like a perfect hexagon. Still very interesting video!

Nothing in nature is perfect. We're sold a lie, that in nature, everything is perfect. Everything is out of control and nowhere near perfect. Just like AI network in MGS saga went south because of one or few inconsistencies, so does our society in a real world. Out of control is everything and nothing is fully under control.

Great video! I'd just like to point out the song 'Not your kind of people', the one with the line "everything's a lie" is a song and album name from a band called Garbage, formed in 1995 and STILL going, lead singer Shirley Manson from Scotland wrote the song, been a big fan of this band and it's always cool to hear the line in some of your videos!

Fun fact: there are a total of five AIs of the Patriots. These are AL, TR, TJ, and GW, with JD to oversee them. However, the script of MGS 2 says that last AI (after GW is destroyed) which contacted Raiden was named JFK (after John F. Kennedy) but in video games it is never revealed which AI talked to Raiden after the loss of GW. This would make a total of six AIs.

It makes you wonder if Venom Snake was ever working for the Patriots in the very first Metal Gear for the MSX2. Planned by Patriots to act as a cover for Big Boss to build up the legend so it’ll be easier to control Militia’s. Eventually leading for Venom to become a threat to the actual Big Boss

This was my 1st MGS game; Right away I could tell I had an unreliable narrator and once I saw his reflection I realized pretty quick it wasn't just an easter egg...I was the Red herring being used to cover big boss. How did Venom become the 1st boss in MGS1? everything with the Eli and the metal gear made me feel in-complete when finishing the game.

It kind of reminds me of the concept of the Panopticon, an idea for a prison where the prison is just one huge circle with a large watchtower in the middle that allows the guards to observe everyone at all times.

just a single guard, not multiple guards. then the guard would also be watched by the public - almost like one huge social experiment to “control”

Also the gameplay on Peace Walker and Phantom Pain is like a beehive. I always interpreted that all the missions on TPP where handled by Cypher (that represent the system and the game system as well). I also remembered that it is even confirmed by some dialogues and scenes on the game. Cypher manipulate the audience to wanting to be Snake/Big Boss. Exactly what war does to people.

There’s also the turtle shell to consider in MGS2(pause screen in Arsenal). Sorta of like symbolizing how the universe has a code a code that will always order direction-we will always be part of. We’re all molecules in a compound. Hence the different organ names in Arsenal. Like atoms that make us, we’re like atoms of another living entity like Earth as a collective 🧐 Also in Death Stranding, Kojima also used hexagonal columns that do in fact exist in Ireland and in California. Hexagons are a sacred symbol that supposedly symbolizes harmony and balance, male, and female energy too.

Isn’t there a statue of the boss outside the hospital also? That’s cool adding the line from Olga. Man these clues are so subtle 99% won’t catch them and everyone thinks mgsv is a failure, so sad

Indeed! Her statue outside the hospital further emphasizes Zero's respect towards The Boss, and his "goal" of bringing the world she envisioned to reality (or so he thought), as we've seen throughout the series. As explained in the opening slide of this video, the sequence featured here was originally uploaded prior to MGSV's release, otherwise her statue would certainly be featured here too 😉 MGSV was never a failure... The thing with Kojima's games is that some people read Kojima's motives between the lines early on, and others only realize Kojima's true vision long years after the game's release 🙂 - Python & Selkan

Since you asked "who Venom Snake is", my new theory goes like this: What if Venom Snake was the Big Boss that Patriots always wanted to have but never had? Of course, we can't forget Les Enfants Terribles, but perhaps Patriots had their hands in project Venom Snake to achieve something in the future? But what? Btw, this video was phenomenal, big thumbs up again!

This was intense. The Patriots somehow leave traces everywhere but in a code only a few can understand it. In one of MGSV cassettes, Zero confesses to Snake himself (in a coma) that he knows how the AI is taking over his own rule, hence his inability to free both big Bosses from the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo control...

OMG Hexagons are everywhere and I haven't noticed it until now. This is some kind of conspiracy.

Venom Snake is a creation of Zero. Zero created Venom to shield the real Big Boss from Skull Face's wrath. The Patriots by the time of MGSV is already headed towards where we see it in the events of MGS1 and MGS2, subjected to AI control because Zero is deteriorating by the minute thanks to Skull Face's attack on him. The Patriots became uncontrollable and beyond Zero's grasp, but also Zero became uncontrollable as well. I am beyond astounded at how these hexagons played a vital role in the games' storyline, but I sort of disagree with the point that Venom Snake is an agent of the Patriots. He was created by Zero, and Zero alone to protect Big Boss from Skull Face, and also from the Patriots who at the point after the events of MGSV was already headed to its current state in MGS1 towards MGS4, no longer under Zero' control.

That's an awesome motif man. How did I not notice that. Gonna be on the lookout more often. That's what this channel is so good at.

@@johntrevy1 Great art calls itself to be made. There are potentially a lot of untold stories to portray in the MGS verse.

i just think the design choice was that, hexagons are cool looking. if you look at most of the uses in the games, the model would look bland without some additional details put on. but it's a neat tie in that everything just so happens to be patriot owned when it has hexagons

I always noticed thr hexagons were a patriots symbol but didn't quite get all the way there with out the presentation

I'm pretty sure that Hideo Kojima chose the code name 'Snake' as a symbol of survival and the Bee hive hexagon as a harsh systemic society prone to trends which overwhelm and consume it. A Snake keeps fighting for the purpose of living rather being part of systemic slavery only dominated by fear of poverty. Just trying to say something....... you're pretty good.

THE PAIN

There is the fact that bonds in chemistry are often stronger when hexagonal... I think that things like the intro to mgs2 and stuff just is showing chemical bonds. Some of them even have double bonds... I enjoy your channel and am a huge mg fan. I think they are just different chemical equations. It is odd that they are everywhere in the games though... But I don't think they represent chemical equations- the patriots used nanomachines which often have the same design as cells and chemical equations

Holy shit. I’d seen the hexagons before but thought it was just cool design. The bit that rocked me was the hospital floor 😱 I’m going to play through V again for the first time in seven years very soon….

Great analysis, though as ZoE fan I could say hexagonal patterns would be just Kojima's favorite. It's still somewhat iconic pattern despite being simple primitive..

I dunno, there's a lot of stuff going on in the ZoE lore - it's rarely touched on by MGS youtubers though sadly. The training VR segment is probably a huge indication that the entirety of the Metal Gear saga is used as the basis for complex AI and human-machine interfaces in the future. Either that or the "universe" of ZoE is itself another simulation run by the Patriots - to test experimental designs, predict the future of PFs and potentially create the perfect future warrior entirely through memetic training before Orbital Frames are even possible as a concept. Or a bunch of other stuff. Like you say, it could be a signature thing, like how a lot of 90s Squaresoft games had a motif of three holes in the shoulder for armour and mechs. Sorry for the long reply but it's good to see love for the ZoE games.

After finishing metal gear solid 1-4 many times (haven't completed peace walker, ground zeroes and phantom pain yet), never connected the hexagons together, thought i knew most everything i guess not lol, thanx appreciate content

Great work guys in this video. When Olga came up in the video it made me think. Olga disguised herself as the Cyborg Ninja because she was being controlled by The Patriots because they had her baby. Then Gray Fox was going to be controlled by the government (The Patriots) when they brought him back to life with cybernetic parts. Null, from MGS Portable Ops (which was canon until Kojima retconned it) was being controlled. Then we have Venom Snake that was lied to, manipulated, and controlled. Not sure about Null because it's been a long time since I played Ops, all the other characters had been part of The Patriots schemes.

the role the patriots have in the series is very confusing and mysterious.. yet still so elaborate.. you could even argue that ocelot, being able to switch personalities and switch sides time after time is him having no actual personality at all.. but a blank slate working for a motive (which is not clear if its on the Big boss, Lalelulilo, or the camp of liquid)

imagine if mgs V is only a Vr simulation ( like some mgs ) who tried to put a soldier at snake place to find what he will or could do while they didnt find him ( don't forget everyone think that big boss is dead and the fake dead body is logically venom snake or a fake one )

In mgsv you steal a weapon called a honey bee

Organic chemistry and Nano science... These shapes are called skeleton formulas. It's a short hand way of representing a molecule. Lines for single bonds, double lines for double bonds etc. It's assumed that each intersection point of the line segments is a molecule, usually carbon, but you can have structures that are not consisting of carbon atoms, these are called heteroatoms and you represent them by noting the symbol in the chain. They are skeletal formulas in chemistry... It makes since since the patriots work in Nano sciences and mess with the biochemical processes in the human body. I don't see what else hexagons can mean in the series. They are just symbols of the chemical control of the patriots

Now I can't buy honey with a clear conscience out of fear there may be Patriots' nanomachines inside. 😔 Damn shame, because I LIKE honey. 🐝🍯🥞
