I actually like the way they are approaching Reforger. They are adding entire systems rather than just items. It isn’t a case of adding helicopters, they add a complex flight model, rotor wash, transport, flexing landing gear etc. The addition suppressors will probably come with a total overhaul of sound physics, attenuation etc. It is slow but they are building in depth that A3 only gained through a decade of mods. Reforger was always about getting the engine and systems ready for A4 and they are at least making steady progress.

It's sad that the industry standard for a game has gotten to the point where games can enter their "full release" stage without saying they "completed" it. They still have 2 of the 3 "phases" yet to release.

i think you missed the whole point of this tech demo disguised as a game. on PCs it's mostly arma veterans or fans of the franchise who want to support the development of arma 4 by buying. on Xbox it's probably the best milsim game you can buy so that's why people are buying it. it's pretty well refined for a tech demo, and already fixes a lot of jank and bugginess that a2/a3 had. arma 4 is supposed to be the final goal, not this.

I have held off with the Reforger eddition, but purchased myself a Christmas gift just a couple days ago. So impressed with what I have seen and your video has sold me 100%. Anxious to spend time with the help package. The graphics are UNREAL.

Regorger is the most gorgeous milsim out. I’d say it’s one of the best looking games out there too!

This is the perfect opportunity to bring back Capture The Island game mode from Operation Flashpoint days. Glad they brought Everon back, it brought back so many memories. If you're not familiar with CTI you have a.i resistance in every town that you eliminate and take control of the town all while earning income for each town you control. There are two teams with each team having a Commander. The Commander is responsible for building a base that supplies the players with a barracks, vehicle factory, tank factory, and aircraft factory, The commander also is responsible for setting up base defenses. The base can be built where you want on the map, and you can even build multiple bases if needed. So, in short it becomes a game of track down the enemy base and destroy it to win or control every town on Everon for 2 minutes to win. Imagine 32 vs 32 players and then each player has 11 a.i soldiers under their control. Makes for massive fights and convoys.

I remember how fun Arma 3 TDM was in the alpha and beta stages. Rounds sometimes would last around an entire hour. After the full release there was still a TDM mode run by a serious guy I used to talk to sometimes. He eventually quit, though, so I quit playing, too. This looks good but are there only bots to play against?

No, however most of the Arma community does the coop stuff. Im not sure about how the community is in Reforger but thats at least defo the case for Arma 3 as an example

We really need to get vehicles into the game; and by that I mean the AI being able to drive. Without vehicles (models are there already) the game is an endless walk through nature with occasional dudes hanging around buildings. This should be priority #1 as a next step.

I Follwed Reforger since the Start. I hoped, that this can be a "Candidat" for the Arma 4 some Day. I see, Bohemia has made much improvement over the Time. High FPS and nice looking GfX...Go, Bohemia..go this Way further. Thx.

That bullet you took at the beginning actually hit your rifle. Can be seen on the rear of the carry handle at 11:12 mark. The bullet hole fades away at 12:09

Well, for me "biggest" means the one with the most content, in that context Arma 2 for example has far more factions, vehicles, weapons and maps, the same can be said about Arma 3's Cold War CDLCs which combined have 4X times the amount of content that Reforger has. Reforger has 2 maps (smaller), 2 and a half factions, very few weapons and very few vehicles in comparison, so how would it be the "biggest"?@@TactiGamer​

i think it contains adequate content for being a tech demo. regardless, arma 4 is being developed completely separately to reforger. we dont even know if arma 4 will go with the cold war theme, reforger is more or less a reboot of operation flashpoint. it's just countless testing, gathering feedback and data etc. they've done an amazing job with it too, i honestly didnt expect the demo to mature so much. it still is almost a fully fledged game for xbox folks since they dont have anything like that.

They did have a suppressed weapons in that time period lol. Suppressed weapons came in 1800ds and in 1900ds people could buy them .

Are all the servers basically people running around with fully kitted out rifles with massive scopes, or more iron sight? Magnification ruins firefights IMO.

As someone that haves over 6k hours in arma 3 this game feels like a shell of a shell of what arma is at the current state. For the mean time it feels like a tech demo even after 1.0

Game runs slightly better but then again I’m not loading 43 mods at once like 3 and if I run it vanilla I can easily play full servers with 100 people on high settings. Arma 3 looked breathtaking in 2013 and graphics still hold up nicely. The only thing I see in arma reforger that is better is volumetric lighting. Even the editor is more complicated then before at current times. I really did try enjoy it as I’ve put 10k hours in this franchise but it’s very very bare bones at the moment. In conclusion if arma reforger was a downloadable scenario in the arma 3 workshop then it would get no downloads.

@@marktsvetanov6038 actual dynamic lighting with dynamics shadows and no more ugly stencil shadows; picture in picture scopes that does not use limited render technology; way more terrain detail; vehicles feel like actual vehicles now with weight; flowing rivers; performance boost across the board with support of new hardware; sea shaders; wet textures; actual bullet holes on vehicles instead of generic model swap; more detailed destruction of vehicles (helicopters so far); more details on helicopters with moving parts and physicality (skids getting bent etc.); sound engine is vastly improved with no need for mods

oh yeah and indoor lighting and overall lighting; then we have smooth get in get out animations without interruption; animations in general but especially little things like your character holding a map 1:1; destruction of world - wooden fences now feel like actual wooden fence and not just on/off; indoor destruction. There might be more after 1.0

Reforger still needs a better vehicle roster. Still no IFVs like the Bradley or LAV. No tanks either, we need t72s and m1s then I'll buy it.

It’s not done yet: they’re gonna add rocket pods and door gunners to the helicopters, add an IFV for the US side and an IFV for the RU side and add in more weapons as well. Definitely far from finished.

I enjoy it for the mods (I played some of the dayz style of mods) and it was great. As a milsim it's fun but takes a TON of time to play sometimes Depends on how much ya got - but Arma 3 tends to have a better experience, I've heard from Arma players. And it's very cheap now

Love Reforger, but just not sure about this whole 1.0 version. Hopefully game crashes a lot less and we got helis now. Still, contentwise, I would still not call this 1.0 version. Sadly Bohemia Interactive is well known for this. Well anyway, there are almost no other games that would simulate battlefield like ARMA games so even if they call Beta version as 1.0, I am still happy their games do exist.

I bought it and refunded it last night, the game just feels empty. The training doesn’t prep you for anything you’re about to hop into and I just spend 90 minutes wandering around an empty map listening to people yelling on the radio

Don't take this 1.0 stamp as the game being a complete product, this is nothing but (probably deceptive) marketing. Bohemia "released" DayZ "1.0" in 2018. To this day it is still plagued by huge issues like fun-ruining bugs, instability, endless hackers and many expected and teased features are nowhere in sight with development still crawling along five years after "full release". It is a great game, but the "1.0 release" FIVE YEARS AGO (wouldn't call the game finished even now) was nothing but a marketing scam.

Basically arma 3.5 its for the devs to tweak stuff with the new engine like a trial ground

the arsenal system in this is an unusuable pile of shit - literally. Every item and piece of shit you can use in one massive pile. I can never take things in and out of it concistebtly, ZERO sorting or interface, and there have still been massive connectiona nd stability issues any time me or friends try and play. Absolutely heartbreaking. I don't know how it's so bad and people bootlicking it make me feel like I'm having a stroke. I really don't care that reforger is pretty. In fact the intricate detail presented alongside breaking bugs infuriated me even more. Especially so when going back to arma 3 and experiencing the practically realistic graphics. I hope it goes somewhere, the best part of the game is honestly getting to have some cool conversations with people playing from xbox experiencing milsim for the first time and stuff.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no way of making the M16 look good in an fps game.
