    The amount of time, determination, and talent required to build model ships is _incredibly_ rare today. Few people who buy kits finish them, even the beginner ones (although I highly recommend it). At a time when people mostly spend their spare time online or streaming videos, hobbyists like Olga are exceedingly rare. I live in a seaside community with lots of people who build simpler models for tourists to put on their windowsills and such, but only a few make models worthy of a glass case like this. Anyways… If the quality is like Olga's ships, then it's _definitely_ worth what the builder is charging. Each and every time you look at a model like this, it's like stepping into another dimension.

    Im very facinated about building models, but never build ships before. Im fasinated how u build your ships and give tip how to build them. Im asking myself "What r u doing now?" and later in the clip u show why u did it. Its a very good teaching clips u makes for total beginners, and i presume for builders who have build many ships too. Do u build from totally scrath where u only have build drawings from a ship? U do a amazing build. I will never be so pro ever.

    I enjoyed watching how you work and your methods - красивый! I have never built a ship, but I've made lots of small vessels like fishing boats and sailing yachts; the last two were a gaff-rigged cutter and a packet ship. I build mine from scratch because the kits I want are hard to find; I'd love to know where to buy some good kits though. If I do, I might try building a big ship. Your work is so impressive - впечатляющий! I look forward to seeing it finished!

  • @OlhaBatchvarov

    @OlhaBatchvarov

    11 ай бұрын

    Yes, I love this class of models. In Kyiv, where I come from, radio-controlled modeling is the most popular and there are very few "bench modelers". But I'm not very friendly with electricity - my biggest achievement is lighting on the model. But on my first such lighting - I literally burned 250 diodes before I found the right resistors)))) Therefore, I'd rather just watch how other modelers build radio-controlled models...

    A technical question here: while installing the boiled planks to the boat wouldn't it have been easier to fix/glue them at the bow first instead on the broadside? Therefore you'd have more lever to adjust them to the contour of the ship? Maybe there's a good reason for doing it your way, i just don't have the deeper knowledge in model ship building...

  • @OlhaBatchvarov

    @OlhaBatchvarov

    11 ай бұрын

    After boiling, I only pre-bend the planks, and finally I bend them directly on the hull. Therefore it is better to have a completely fixed part. Although this is probably a matter of experience as well. I'm just comfortable when the middle of the plank is fixed and I can continue to bend it with a soldering iron or, as in the video, a special heater in both directions... By the way, on this model it was much more difficult to bend the planks in the stern than in the bow. Because there they also have to be bent in two planes like a propeller!
