One of my favourite films. Watch it every year as it’s entertaining and a reminder to not trust banks or governments, ever
I can't wait for "The Big Squeeze: Power to the Players".
One of the few films that is funnier on repeat watchings than it was the first time round.
There are may movies that attempt to explain the sub-prime market collapse, but few do it as well as The Big Short. It's humerus, enlightening, entertaining, artsy, and shocking. It really brings home the feel of the confusion of the time as well as explains what was happening without going heavy on the jargon. Every year I show it at the end of the semester to my freshman econ students.
I love how we never even see "Yang" until Jared mentions him
"Look at him, that's my quant.." He says it like they're morons for even questioning his math. So funny. What a salesman.
This movie is pure gold, the script is great, all the actors are 100% committed.

Not really. The movie ignores critical pieces of information. Critical pieces of information that changes the picture. So the movie is truthful but only to a point. And that myopic point skews the picture. Tell me exactly where the banks would have any incentive in a free market to screw around like that. They don't. But the government does. The government does in the name of "getting votes" and "staying in office" especially when by putting the screws to banks to make unsound loans. The fact that banks made convenient scapegoats was just icing on the cake. Do look into the "Community Reinvestment Act" of President Carter and President Clinton.
This was one of the most phenomenal movies I have ever watched in my life ! Every single actor played their role above and beyond. The different perspectives the movie showed surrounding one of Americas greatest economic failures is beyond stunning.
