This is how these guys made a living. It's called busking and there are certain cities where it is more common, but Brighton is one of those places.

Nice reaction to my absolute favorite busking performance. As an FYI, the Wade in the Water song is the spiritual you were thinking about. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wade_in_the_Water). But the band here is riffing on it. Ren's is really, realy good at taking a set of cover songs and melding them together like this.

🎸🎸🎸🥁 The Big Push was a #brighton - based #busking rock push band, their page on YT is www.youtube.com/@TheBigPushBand #thebigpush . They are... - Ren Gill (Welsh) singing and on various instruments, mostly guitar, keys, percussion or bass guitar www.youtube.com/@RenMakesMusic #ren #rengill - Romain Axisa (French) singing and on guitar or bass guitar www.youtube.com/@RomainAxisa #romainaxisa - Gorran Kendall (English) singing and on guitar or bass guitar www.youtube.com/@GorranKendall #gorrankendall - Glenn Chambers (Irish) on the drumkit, percussion and occasional trumpet #glennchambers They had to split up when Ren (-> Canada) and Glenn (-> Asia) left for different continents end-of 2022. They may re-unite in Brighton later this year, when Ren finishes his medical treatment in Canada. While they have been coined a Busking Band, they also have a number of original songs, studio recordings and unbelievable videos (Watch Out!, Why My Woman?, What Kind Of Woman Is This?, Swan Song, Icarus etc.) and they have 🔥 BTS videos, too. Like with Ren many songs exist with different versions, the original studio version, a live video and a number of busking videos, too. It is all worth checking out and reacting to.

Great reaction, thank you. If you want, check out the Swan song. An original written by Goran. And praise you. Both the big push. And a lot of other busking performances from the big push. War pigs and i shot the sheriff are cool to. I wish i could see them busking to. But even if they do that again, i'm from the Netherlands so i'm not able to attent...love to see you do more big push reactions ..❤

As others have said Wade In The Water is a Spiritual/Gospel song originally by Fisk Jubilee Singers, then Ren moved into Trouble So Hard by Vera Hall Ren is a massive fan of Vera's and he admired how she campaigned for equal rights and the end of segregation in the US, she also suffered a lot of personal abuse but still carried on, Ren has said whenever he was feeling very ill of down he would think of Vera and how she overcame her struggles and battles and it gave him the strength to carry on. The final song, Feeling Good by Nina Simone is sung by Gorran Kendall, and as others have said competing the line up is the French guitar maestro Romain Axisa and the Irsh animal Glann Chambers is on drums, what a band they are, they're are multi instrumentalists, with them all playing guitar and bass (yes Glenn also plays guitar and bass), and Ren, Romain and Gorran all sing very well too.

Ren said he was pretty much addicted to busking, and did it for a lot of hours, at least five days a week. He loved playing to and interacting with the crowd, and it shows! Sometimes he'd do it alone, with one other person (like Sam Tompkins, excellent singer), or with his band. Loved your reaction, and subbed! 🤠

Busking in Brighton honed his talent, im not sure that humility had a lot to do with it. It helped him discover how to capture his audience. Thank goodness we have the busking videos.

Romain Axesel.... Goran Kendall. Romain is the little guy....he is a vocalist but didn't sing. Goran is the other vocalist. Sorry for spelling on the names.

Ren was earning money to live by busking at this point. Not long after the Stem Cell Transplant But I think that he and Sam Thompkins had some world wide trending street performances Later also with The Big Push so many people sometimes from around the world were turning up the Police had to shut traffic out of streets for Safety

Lot of good videos by The Big Push out there. Busking (playing in the street) and other live videos and studio version videos. Also other videos of Ren busking alone and with Sam Tompkins. The band is great, Romain on guitar (a very good guitarist from France), here Ren on bass, and on the acoustic guitar and singing is Gorran, Glenn on drums, together they are The Big Push.

The Big Push: Glen Chambers, drums; Gorran Kendall, rhythm guitar, vocals; Romain Axisa, face-melting guitar solo. And, that guy Ren, vocals, and playing bass. 🤩 Not "Ren's Band". They were all musicians, playing on the street to pay rent. Ren was still "the guy in The Big Push". Oh, and before that, "the guy who sings with Sam Tompkins". 😁 Gorran says he changed the strap because it was tied together, and he was afraid it would break when Ren started to "flail about". BTW---"Trouble So Hard" is by Vera Hall, "Wade In the Water" is a very old song about escaping slavery. Gorran sings "You Know How I Feel", which was memorably covered by Nina Simone.

Ren was never just "the guy who sings with Sam Tompkins". Partly because Ren discovered and mentored Sam, partly because Ren always did a lot more than just sing in those performances, partly because he's a better singer than Sam and partly because they blew up at the same time, as a result of their performances together. Since then, it's Ren who's had the most commercial success, despite remaining fully independent and has definitely had mountains more critical acclaim. Your remark about Ren being just "the guy in the Big Push" was more accurate but Ren's solo presence was still much bigger than the other band members and, until Hi Ren, was pretty much on a par with the band itself. So yes, although it's true that it wasn't "Ren's Band", having been formed by Ren AND Romain. you're deliberately underselling Ren's profile at the time. You're also ignoring the fact that"X's band" can equally mean 'the band that X is a member of" and not just "the band which is X's project" or "the band which X controls"...

Not your fault but original video title is confusing. The only "Nina Simone" is third song Feeling Good. And it is REN on bass. Second singer here is Gorran Kendall.
