The Big Phat Band "Years Of Therapy" Live Featuring Wayne Bergeron

Музыка

OH MY GOSH we just heard this new Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band composition "Years of Therapy" ...it's just simply off the charts! Both of my son's (Austin & Brandon) and I attended this "Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band" concert held at the Catalina Jazz Club on June 2nd 2014. They were celebrating the release of their latest CD called "Life In The Bubble" This particular chart features Mr. Wayne Bergeron on piccolo trumpet... yep you read that right... piccolo trumpet! You really have got to hear this live version. He eventually gets back on his Bb trumpet then just soars into the upper register stratosphere giving us all eargasms. This chart also has got to be a total lip buster. I'm surprised I didn't see any blood dripping from Wayne's chops! LOL What a class act too that Mr. Wayne Bergeron is for mingling, taking photos and signing autographs for all of the fans including my boys after the show. Thank you so very much Mr. Gordon Goodwin for having not only having some of the finest musicians ever in your band but also for your musical writing style and arrangements... of which you are very gifted and we are very blessed to hear your music. Where else can we get both humor and excitement all at the same time? Thank you for the Big Phat Sound. We will be back to see your Big Phat Band on August 22nd 2014 @ 7pm at the Westlake Village City Hall Summer Concert Series. Everybody must see this band play live because in my opinion...you can get much more sizzle out of their live performance than you can in a studio recording. There latest CD is also the bomb and I'm know you will love their new tracks.

It was my distinct privilege to see the then lineup around 15 years back when they graced the local Chicago suburban stage to perform in the annual Elmhurst College (now University) Jazz Fest in a February winter setting. Mr. Goodwin and his band/players delighted the audience and graced us by chatting after their performance. I got the treat of a lifetime to say hello to one of my guitar heroes in the jazz world, Mr. Grant Geissman, who was with the Big Phat back then. God bless, Gordon.

Dear Mr or Mrs Sebbethy, A friend steered me to your nice comment here. Thanks for the great advice! If you'd like to drop by to play this piece for me sometime, I'd love to hear your version. I could use a few pointers. First, I want to u to play 6 of the most difficult lead parts ever written. Then I'd like you to pick up your picc and play this first 2 2/12 pages of this. Don't stop there, then play the rest of this chart-Head, two solo sections, soli with saxes, shout chorus, cadenza, then a double B at the end. It's definitely not a perfect performance by any means. But at the at moment in time, it was the best I could do. It faceless internet trolls like you that keep most pro players from getting involved in music discussion on line. I guess it back to the old saying...If you don't have any thing nice to say...Shut the F*ck up. Hugs, WB

Wayne Bergeron Well said, Wayne! Being a former professional trumpet player, I know how difficult a show like this is. And there's no way I could ever play stuff like this with the absolute masterful playing you exhibit here. And quite frankly, I enjoyed your pic playing. That part is really all over the place! Very fine job, sir! There's a reason trolls like this douchbag aren't top-call players, or successful pros period...and let me see...last time I checked, you are! Every time you put the horn to your face, or speak to a group of aspiring players, you influence and inspire them in ways no one else can. Just thought I'd throw my $0.02 in...Thanks for all you do. Dan
