@@Brhoward31what evidence for collusion actually exists? Quality players continue to get huge paydays, and decent players who don’t botch their negotiating strategy continue to get decent guaranteed $$. The failure is on Boras-he is running negotiating tactics and strategy that are now decades old. How front office’s determine player value and team building has changed tremendously since then, but Boras is playing a game circa 1999. In addition, because he has not altered his tactics, GMs now know how to handle him. If all other Player agents were getting these kind of results, your accusation of collusion might hold water-but that does not seem to be the case

@rd31 Or they're just finally putting their foot down on scott boras's lame tactics of drawing out free agency to get contracts his players can't live up too. He's had a number of players he's gotten the bag for end up going tits up and costing their teams a lot of pain carrying their heavy deals. Teams are tired of it, and flipped the table on him. Teams aren't the only ones who can be greedy. And these players/boras are asking for way too much. Hence why bellinger just accepted his 3 year deal at 80 million, instead of 8 years 200+ million Boras was asking after his client has only had 1 good year in the last 4.

It seems Chapman made the same mistake Michael Conforto(another Boras client) did with the Mets several years ago turning down a $100 million contract prior to his walk year in 2021. Conforto didn’t get what he wanted and sat out all of 2022 after injuring himself training in the offseason. He then signed a 2 year deal with the Giants for 2 years $36 million with an opt out but didn’t exercise it because of his pedestrian numbers in 2023. Chapman is just simply a bad offensive player who strikes out way too much.

  • @EulogizingSleep

Lest we not forget the A’s also offered him 10 years 150 million 4 years ago. Sure that wasn’t a great offer but considering his options now I don’t think he will ever eclipse 150 million in career earnings. He has so far made 32 million, ain’t no way he’s on pace to earn another 118 million LOL. Not only that but he made just 12.5 million the last two years and would have been making more had he taken the A’s original offer. Great example of betting on yourself and losing. I’m not surprised at all though as an A’s fan, he massively overachieved those first two seasons. He never had a great bat in college or the minors and it took all of us by surprise that he was suddenly a stud when he got called up. The hip injury obviously didn’t help but the guy he was last year is the guy he was always supposed to be: average hitter/incredible defense. Funny enough Olson too was projected the same way, wasn’t supposed to be a great hitter but he made adjustments to his swing and approach unlike Chapman.

You missed Bellinger and Chapman were hit with qualifying offers, and anyone signing them had to be penalized. For Belly and the Cubs, the deal is amazing for both sides. The Cubs got control and didn't have to overpay money and years for a guy who was horrible in his final years with LA. And for Belly he got more money than he would have had he accepted the qualifying offer and if he has another great year he can opt out without a qualifying offer being tagged to him next year which opens up way more teams that don't want to lose the compensation tied to signing a player that's tagged. Chapman under estimated how much the qualifying offer would hurt his value. He is not worth the lost pick and the extra money to sign. He should pray he gets a deal offered to him like Belly's.

@@markryan3739 maybe they could work out something I would sooner watch a player busting his ass to get to what ever targets they agreed to the fans get into they chase a long with the player. Sports has lost something fun maybe it's to much of a business think the players need to come back to earth there making way to much compared to the people watching them.

It would be almost orgasmic if Chapman had no choice but to return to the dying Oakland A's...

I can’t with Chapman. He’s way overpriced for what you get out of him. His stick is a momentum killer. He hits the ball hard? Cool. Right to people. Tony Gwynn didn’t hit that hard but was on base quite often because of his hits. The fact he didn’t adjust tells me about him and the organization.

What have the Jays done to address third base? Kiner Falefa? Turner? They didn’t do anything.

HUGE MISTAKE… A draft pick loss is tied if he signs with SF, a huge price to pay for a guy on a two-year deal. Matt may not sign with anyone until after June. Once the draft occurs the loss of the pick is removed. He becomes totally unrestricted.

Gold glove, oh well, doesn't do much if he can't hit. Good riddance. Never was a fan of his.

BTW, your style of over-the-top drama is lame...stop perpetuating the media's 'negative color angle' on every storyline just to hype your nonsense...
